Its annoying me. is there a way to automatically have the map in the top right of the screen set to its maximum size? I'm sick of having to change it every time I start a new game or get into a vehicle. why the hell would you want it smaller than its full size anyhow?

thats the worst. When ever i get into vehicle or change positions in a vehicle the mini map changes to a different size, it seems the size is random im not sure. when things are hot and im looking at uav and where my team is in the mini, it can cause you to get killed sometimes to have to hit the dang "N" key to get it back. i dunno, i guess its a small complaint for all the good stuff about the mini map. It is certainly under-used by many of the players out there. -

It's not random. If you read the patch fix logs, you'll find that this is a 'feature' that they added with the 1.03 patch. The game remembers what your mini map setting is for the particular vehicle you are using so when you get out, it switches to the last infantry minimap size you used.
Examples:
If you're infantry and have the mini map set to close that's where it stays. Now you jump into a land vehicle and set the minimap to medium. You drive around for awhile and then get out, your mini map will switch to the last infantry setting (in this case, close range). So now you run around on the ground for awhile and jump back into a land vehicle, your mini map changes back to medium, which is the last setting the game remembers when you were in the vehicle. You drive to a helicopter or plane and jump in to go for a flight and set your mini map to the widest view. When you jump out, your mini map switches back to your last infantry setting. If you get back into the plane, it switches back to wide angle or what ever the last setting was before you got out.
I'm not 100% sure but I believe it remembers the mini map setting by vehicle class as well. All of the above is assuming that you aren't constantly changing your minimap view and forgetting what you had it set on when you leave or enter a vehicle... it remembers the last setting before you exit a vehicle and then reverts to the last infantry setting.
Also I think it remembers the setting for the seat position you're in. A pilot might want to have his setting on wide angle where a gunner might want it on medium or close. So if you switch positions, it will remember the setting for the seat position you were in and restores it when you go back to that seat position.Comment
