1.12 patch messed everything up...Need information and help!!

I had BF2 since 1.02 patch and patched to 1.03 right when it was released.
1.03 was excellent, they fixed problems with the server browser and all sorts of things. I recently upgraded my graphics card to x800xl and added a gig of RAM and BF2 runs phenomenally on the 1.03 patch.
Enter special forces. I pre-ordered it and got it a couple days after release. After installing, it didn't work. Wouldn't even load. I'd get the splash screen and then a black screen like I'm gonna get the EA logo and then it just goes back to the desktop.
I have since re-installed BF2 6 times. I've tried doing it with all the background tasks and antivirus off like they recommend in the manuals but this did not make a difference.
I have gotten the game to work but with issues. the server browser takes 30seconds after clicking on a server to even highlight the selection and updat the ping and number of players. If I try to join a game I might get a freeze, I might get in. And then after the game loads it's a toss up of whether it would freeze there or get in.
My computer is optimized and runs smooth as butter...just BF2 has issues.
If I re-install and re-patch to 1.03 everything is FINE again.
The latest was I called EA support and they gave me instructions on manually uninstalling the game. Then they said to try installing in safe mode. When I got to the 1.12 patch, it just stuck in the middle of patching...I even gave it about 40 minutes just in case...well, that was 30 minutes ago and I'm about ready to return special forces and play on the 3 servers that still run the 1.03 patch because it at least works flawlessly there.
Any information anyone has to help out getting this working would be great.

I have the opposite situation, less buggy for me but the frame rates have dropped, I only get like 60-90fps on high in 64 player maps.

i get the same thing some times on join game it freezes a bit,its dont the pc i have a very good pc, i have never had this problem b4, i think its the patch

Here is a suggestion.....try not looking at porn when downloading or installing the patches! just an idea I will through out there cause if you are surfing or doing something else files tend to get missed placed in the cache or memory ...i don;t know the exact place temporary crapped get stored but you get the idea and this could be causing the problem. I did this with another game ....I installed it and while I was waiting I jerked off to some hot latina chicks doing what they are suppose to with a large philac looking object. lol. Needless to say I got something in my eye and balls for a game....it wouldn't work or would freeze at a certain point.

I have the same problem - splash screen then nothing. But 1.03 works fine.

How did you get the game to work at all with 1.12 please?

I've had a ton of problems also.

Everything's dandy at 1.03.
1.12 comes along, and suddenly my system can only just handle it. I suddenly notice reflective surfaces, which I can't get rid of.

It's a conspiracy, I say. BF2 laggy? Oh looky here! BF2 sure would run great on an NVidia graphics card! Yep!... nice... shiny new... graphics card.
I turn my head, and they slap in a feature that instantly reduces perfomance AND can't be reversed.

And it's gotten worse. Now my game crashes desktop the moment I try to enter an online game. I put the CD in, it asks me to install it. I try to uninstall, it can't. Because it doesn't recognise the fact that it's installed. Other programs don't recognise it. Now I'm afraid of touching it for fear of it exploding and taking out Eastern Australia with it. Recieved no help from EA's support system, despite several attempts.

Now all I'm left with is a shoddy single player mode that can't even compare to it's predecessors in 1942 and Vietnam. Hopless.
