YEs i know this is the wrong forum but i need somones help badly. let me explain. ok my computer was having problems restarting so i pooped in the old windows xp cd went into the bios and made sure that the system booted from the cd. well i did all that and installed windows xp on the same partition as my old one thinking it would just over write it but it somehow created plain old windows xp with none of my old stuff. i know its still on the hard drive because when i look in my computer and click the c: drive it still shows that its like 70 to 80% full. if anyone could help me out in recovering my old stuff it would be greatly appreciated. thank you

I believe he did a parallel install.

Try booting into safe mode, logging in as the adminstrator, and search for your files that way...when you find them, just backup the files and reinstall windows, trust me It'll save you a bunch of problems in the future.
