PCs can do everything a Mac can do. I remember having to do a video project for a class I was taking and had to do some serious editing. I worked on the school's Mac editing suite for 6 fruggin hours getting everying set up. Did the final render (which took another 3 hours) and POOF! It corrupted not only the finnal render, but most of the source too!

After I finished freaking out, I took my source backups (thank god the originals were all on PC formated Zip Disks which is why I had to make duplicates) home and downloaded some free editing packages. I had the project finished and renders 4 hours later.

I totally ticked my sister off with this story. She's a professional editor and big Mac fan.
I have beeen using macs for 20 years now....I am a Graphic Designer by trade, and the industry is still lead by Mac

however if i get some spare cashflow I might invest in a PC purely for gaming

I do graphics too. I've been involved in a few projects where they insisted on using Macs. Generally, I'd just do organizational stuff while at the office and do all the real work at home on my PC.

      They never caught on.

There's NO advantage in using a Mac for graphics over a PC.

Edit: Here's an image I did on a PC just to drive the point home

      Yes... it's my face.

Wow, people still use Mac's? Why? I had a Mac once, 1984, won it in a sales contest.... it made for a pretty interesting looking paper weight.

I use a mac at work and I think the Mac OS X is pretty nice, but I would stick with my PC at home. On top of that Mac hardware is more expensive right now. And I agree that a PC can do anything that a mac can do.

Maybe once macs use intel chips I might buy one, but don't know yet.

There was always this misconception that Mac's could "process" graphics/images/video better. But really all that stemmed from companies who made software to do those things initially supported Macs on a more widespread basis. Now its pretty much the opposite on a lot of cases.

                PC > Mac

I thikn its cool that OSX went to Unix, but its still gay

Also, Mac OS is NOT more "secure" than windows. It has less viri/explotation programs written for it because the userbase is nothing compared to Windows.

EDIT: Also, Mac isnt going to the X86 architecture. Its true they will be using Intel chips, but Apple has already said they will not be opening up their hardware to be mass produced like X86 stuff, and that while it will be using Intel chips they will not be directly compatible with PC X86 systems.

                  Re: BF2 on a MAC!!!!

Mac IS more secure than windows, the very way it's setup makes virus/spyware hard to install. It's not just a user base thing, that's a common myth.

Americas Army is out on MAC aswell as on linux :)

But i guess it kinda proves the point, the reason AA is on multiple platforms is because its free and they just want to make as many eople play it as possible.

With BF2 its just aobut the money, and they don't see the linux/MAC market as being big enough. Pity really.

I have tohught about trying too emulate BF2 in linux with WINE but id be surprised if it worked satisfactorily.

                      Re: BF2 on a MAC!!!!

The reason that we still widely use Mac for graphics is because the color processing standards on all the devices used on Mac are the same, monitors, printers, etc.
