    I have a question

Hey guys Well I'm new here and planning on getting BF2 soon. I was wondering if the GeForce 5500 could run Battlefield 2 (Not intending to run on high just want to run it:hmm: ). Some of my friends say it won't and some say that it will. I would like to know from people that might (or might not) play with one. Well thanks for the answer anyone. Later

Ehhh... my mobo is PCI only:cry:  so I'm hoping i can at least play it. I'm happy on lowest setting and low resolution and crap like that. Even the occasional FPS laggage, I just want to play BF2. Only time I get to is at friends

Not sure the budget you are on for video cards (Or the person who is geting it for you), but if you can squeze a better card out of it..... It will pay off. People with older cards (Like that) are doing a whole heck of a lot of complaining at the FPS they get and have to really lower their quality to get a decent rate.

Whoever is giving you the 5500 is really really reall really really cheap, (how much is it now? $30?)

tell them for the same money they could buy a much better present, such as a music player.

Lol no you must be thinking of wrong card its around 60 or 70. Don't need a music player, like i said BEST CARD FOR MY MOBO ITS PCI CARDS ONLY. Anyway I'm just gunna get CoD2 for X-Mas instead and try demo after i get card. If it runs ok ill get soon after.

                        Re: I have a question

Investing money in a PCI-only system is like... hm... well it's not particularly smart. Ask for money instead and save up for a new system. You're just ****ing money and time away on that P.O.S.

                          Re: I have a question

Well for one take these variables into your thoughts..

1st. I'm not investing money its for X-Mas I don't have the money to pay for a better system plus not much time on my hands to use it.

2nd. IDC if you think it is a POS if I can run something and I'm happy then STFU and don't bother me about what I want.

3rd. I'm no asking for smart ass opinions on something that I simply asked for the answer.

4th. I'm 13 (turning 14 in Feb.) then getting a job to pay for my own.

5th. Who said me or my family has enough money to pay for something like that for all you know i could be friggin barley getting enough money for my cable internet so jsut don't be posting negative comments about something like this( I already know that it isn't a great computer but it makes me happy so just shove it)

                            Re: I have a question

My point was that buying a 5500 for a PCI system is going to be a fairly lousy value. I'm not a big advocate of spending tons of cash on a gaming rig. My base system cost me around $300 (Dell P4 2.8 server).

My suggestion was to ask for the cash instead of the 5500 and put it towards a barebones rig that you can upgrade into something worth keeping. Honestly, the money put towards your 5500 is money wasted. If money is really tight for you then you should get the cash and put it towards something that isn't a dead end.

                            That's just my opinion.

Do not get a 5500, it is a waste of money and a crap card nowadays. The peopel that are using them and the 5200s did not by them after BF2... they jsut have to use them because they don't have a better one.
