Can't join any SF games but original bf2 works.. wtf?

when i try joining an expansion server it says joining server then it "blinks"/changes resolution like its about to join then it just reverts back to the join menu. This happened after I was playing on a original bf2 server (team wonderful) for a couple of hours. Again I can join original bf2 servers fine but I can't join any expack servers... Heres what I've tried. BTW loading a single player game in the expack does work
-yes I have the latest video/motherboard drivers
-updated punkbuster with the latest update tool
-I've deleted the cache files for original and expack
-port forward settings are correct
-restarting comp
-joining an original server then trying to join an expack server
-closed other programs

As I finish this post I'm gonna try to do a complete uninstall/install

I get the same, I can load up battlefield 2 servers and play with no problems, but when joining a Special Forces server it does the connecting thing (doesnt go to the loading) blinks then CTDs.

I had the exact same problem and went to EA's support page, they said it was most likley an error of the 1.12 patch download. I think its because i had 1.12. installed before i instlled SF's. Anyway what they recommended, and what i had to do was uninstall SF's, then uninstall BF2, reinstall Bf2 then immediatly install SF's w/out installing patches first. Then install the 1.12 patch, a real pain in the ass, i can join servers now but the game runs like crap, here's the ea link
