BF2 FPS Bottleneck - true?

Can anyone confirm or deny that the maximum FPS rates on BF2 is 90 fps?

I just read this interesting story:

Even with a dual Geforce 7800 GTX 512 mb SLI, BF2's FPS bottleneck at 90 FPS.

Is anyone getting framerates higher than 90fps?

Does this mean you'll pretty much get diminshing returns with bleeding edge technology when running BF2?

ive got the bog standard no frills 6800..and i get up to 99 fps on some maps(no special forces maps..just bf2)...so it is possible to go above 90 fps

Sorry I should've been more specific - WITH the specs listed on the test - 4xAA on 1600x1200 + high filtering.

100 fps is the limit as far as I know. Even if your vid card can't run that high if you launch fraps and watch the fps on the intro movie you will see it run at 100 fps.

my fraps has gone over 100 frames, not in game, so the limit on fraps inst just 100, just clearing that up, i perosnally havent had over 100 frames on bf2, so maybe u can only get 90 frames max, i got a 7800gt extreme and i get about 50fps on high, 1024 x 768

There is no limit my 7800GT overclocked can run BF2 on all high 4AA at 120 FPS avarage.

no offense but... why do u want it over 90...? after 30(i think its like.. 24 or 26 but lets just go with 30) fps no matter what u tell me, your eye can not see the difference, its really only important that you gfx card doesn't go below 30

but hey if u want over 90 im sure u can get it, i doubt theres a cap its just that the latest and greatest can't chug that out yet

bf2 maxes out at 100. Sometimes fraps will say 101 or 102. I doubt you could avg 100fps in BF2. Maybe if you join an empty server. I guarantee you won't run that in a 64man server. You have a nice rig and all but BF2 is screwed up and uses up way way way too many computer resouces. Alot of people hop on here and post screenies boasting about how they are getting 100fps but you can look by the picture that they are in an empty server. I'm sure you could avg 150 fps in better optimized games and even games with better graphics.

I've read that you can "work around" the 100fps cap by doing this
Add the following line to the file <Battlefield 2 Install Folder>/mods/BF2/Init.con
game.lockFPS 0
This will remove the in-game lock of 100 fps that is set by the game.

no offense but... why do u want it over 90...? after 30(i think its like.. 24 or 26 but lets just go with 30) fps no matter what u tell me, your eye can not see the difference, its really only important that you gfx card doesn't go below 30

Actually, it's like sixty, but that's for the like BEST naked eye of a human. I personally can't tell the difference between like 30fps and like 2000fps (if it were possible, in other words, i can't see the difference above 30fps).

it won't go over 100 unless you press the console key (~) and type "game.lockfps 999" of course, no card (right now) will hit 999 FPS but that's just so that the FPS will go over 100...

My X-Mas comp parts will defiantely own games, so I will install Fraps and see how it all goes. :)

On WoW, I am getting about 15-23 FPS. Never seen my FPS on BF2, but I run it at medium/low graphics, and still get choppy gameplay when alot is happening.

well I get around High 50 to low 60's one SF with NVG's on but of course I have never got above 80
