3dmark????

With all the knowledgeable minds here, can someone please tell me metric called a 3dmark is? What are the benchmarks? What goes into this calculation? What does it tell you? Is it a command on BF2 (like rendere.drawfps 1)? What is a decent number?

I just ran 3dmark - and I got failing grades. :cry: 2670

I have a P4 HT 2.8 GHz machine
9800 Pro
2 gigs Ram
Running latest version of XG warcats

I'm really tempted to go ask my buddy who puts PCs together to assemble one for me. :hmm:

Interesting thing is that I average around 35-40 fps on BF2 (low 20s, High, 80s). So maybe the system isn't too bad. I have my settings on mostly medium (except for textures and geometry which are on high), resolution at 1024x768, 2xAA, dynamic lighting on, 100% visibility.

Some how the 3dmark numbers just don't seem to jibe with the fps results I'm getting on BF2. Could it be that the wildcats driver doesn't kick in when running the 3dmark test?

2 gigs will lower your 3dMark score. 1 gig is optimal, for 3dMark.

2 gigs will lower your 3dMark score. 1 gig is optimal, for 3dMark.

??? i'm confused.. teach me:laugh: isn't 2gigs better than 1? i was specting it to be... how does it lower it...

He has a 9800Pro and if it's 3DMark05, his score is about right.

I score like 500 on a good day with my x300:laugh: :laugh: will get a x800xl soon and break 5000 but for now it looks a slideshow:laugh: :laugh:

hey guys. i just ran benchmark and received a score of 4395. i have a 6800gt, 3.2.ghz intel and 2 gig ram. is that a decent score? i dont understand the scoring system
