    Sf frames

I have read lots of the forms on bf2 sf and am hoping toget it for christmas. But anyway I herd that the framrates are bad in sf and was wondering if I should get it or not because of the bad frames. If anyone could help me I get about 60 ping on a 140 ping surver on bf2. If I got sf would I then start getting 78 ping of much higher? Thanks for your help and time put into your posting!

no there arent any connection issues that ive heard of, and ping has nothing to do with frame rate. but ive heard that there is an increase in lag. Still im going to get it because i love Bf2 and im pretty sure my computer will be able to handle it.

Sf and the 1.12 patch accompanying it absolutely destroyed my fps, the game is unplayable for me now. This seems to be the case with quite a lot of people, I already wrote about this on the EA forums:

Also started a poll there, about 50% of the people who responded have very serious performance issues since patching:

Bottom line: I urge everyone to not buy BF2 or SF at the moment, as you can´t be sure that the game will even be playable with the current patch, regardless of the machine you have. This hopefully will change with a new patch.

well ever since the 1.12 patch my fps has gone up in Vanilla bf2 and lag is completely gone. so im happy.

I know, there are people that even seem to get an performance increase. On a friend´s and my computer the new patch made the game unplayable though, and tons of people complaining about post patch performance make it look like these are not isolated incidents.
Me and numerous other people for whom the patch effectively destroyed the game just can´t recommend buying the game in it´s current state, as there´s a huge chance that it won´t run with good fps.

i love bf2 and since i downloaded sf and the patch i reckon the game is almost unplayable ... im absolutely gutted. fps is so bad, after every round the game optimises shaders takes around 5 minutes, game crashes half way through levels. my pc is of a gaming spec, 2 gig ram, geforce 6800, 3.2 p4. Ive downloaded the latest drivers to see if that would help ...nothing , i wish i had left it alone and just stayed with bf2 original.

If you really love BF2, you'll boycott SF. Show EA that you won't stand for buggy, laggy expansions, and want the original game fixed before asking for more cash.

My advice: Don't get SF. Look at this entire forum! 90% of the threads are about how laggy the expasion is, or how it cuts 10 to 20 fps out of thier system when they play it! Use your brain! Its not like there is no way it'll happen to you.

w/ SF u have to turn ur graphics down a lot, or u can OC some hardware to make it run better

I haven't had a problem at all. The game runs great and I find it even more enjoyable than the original.

                            Re: Sf frames

                            SF is more resource intensive.
Think about it for a second. There's more stuff in it. This means more RAM load. There's also more complex geometry. That means more load on Video Cards. I also has more physics (hooks 'n lines). Physics impacts CPU.

That said, I'm saddled with crappy hardware (which I SO want to upgrade, but have ta wait) and I still find it playable.

If you've gto decent hardware and run it clean, you shouldn't have too many problems. No, it will never run as fast as regular BF2, but that's just a fact of life. More stuff means more work for your computer.

Yes, SF is more ressource intensive, that´s well known.
There´s another major issue for a lot of people though: Since the 1.12 patch the fps of vanilla BF2 about halfed (and that´s no exaggeration). I get only 15 FPS 90% of the time now on 64 player maps.
To check wether it´s somehow my fault I downloaded the demo again and installed it. The demo runs flawless with average 30FPS+ on 64 player gulf of oman.
This means that there´s something with the patch (and nothing else) that kills fps on some people´s computers.
