It says I have a bogus CD Key...Please help

I got the downloaded version of sp. forces, and when I try to connect to a server It pretty much accuses me of having a bogus cd key, and prompts me to purchase the game. But since I did the download thing, I have no box, disks, or manual, where can I get the cd key?

EA help says look on the back of your instruction book..lol

You downloaded it how? Off EA or Warez? If it's warez then you actually need to go out and buy the game like the rest of us.

If you downloaded it from EA and paid for it, then you should have received an e-mail with the instructions or something. You'll probably have to contact them.

I just found this on the EA UK forums...maybe it'll help:

k, well I gave up and couldnt wait till monday to get the game, so lastnight my brother and I purchased it online thinking that it would be a good way to spend a friday night with some new gadgets in the BF2 World... Well dam! What a crock, couldnt even get it to install. After searching the net for an hour i thought , there has to be a way because this BF2CDKeyCheck.exe is really nothing more than checkin you have a valid CD key when it went to install. I submitted a help request to EA, but as usual no response.. Suprise Suprise, however after another 30 minutes detective work on the net and around my harddrive I found a way to fix the problem.

So if your getting "BF2CDKeyCheck.exe Has Encountered A Serious Problem and Needs to Close" error this is for you. It took me all up 2 hours to work out, and i figured i should share this with the rest of you who may be experiencing the same problem. On a side note, this is also a solution to making your own BF2:SF DVD for future installation.

How to Fix Your BF2 SF Installation Problems
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1:
Download http://www.stylnxtz.com/bf2/BF2SFRegFix.zip and run the included file (This file is apparently sent by EA to affected customers, how ever I had to find it online).

Step 2:
Enter your "Member Name", this is the Account you purchased BF2 with online.

Step 3: (The Fun Part)
Click on "Start" then click "Run" and put the following in "c:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\<Your Member Name>\"

Step 4: Look for the file "eagamesbf2-2006online_contentbf2-ep1.eam" and double click on it, at this point Windows XP will ask you what you want to open it with, Select "Choose Program From List" then scroll down till you see "Notepad". You can untick the "Always Open Using This Program".

Now scroll down in notepad till you find "regkey = xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx", this is your BF2:SF CD Key in plain text format. You need to highlight and copy this , even write it down somewhere safe for a future installation/repair.

Step 5: Paste your newly found BF2:SF CD Key into the program where it asks for the Code EA would have emailed you.

Step 6: Click the "OK" button.

Step 7: Run the EA Downloader and click "Install Now" and your problems are solved. Or alternatively browse to your cache and Install manually via the Setup.exe

Step 8: Run the Offical BF2 1.12 Patch to get the game content up to date or you will get an error connecting to servers online about modified content.
