Re: What BF2 can Learn from CS:S

I do acknoledge the Differences between BF2 and CS:S in the second paragraph of my story. No way in hell can BF2 compete with CS:S in graphics but it is sad that a year old Engine can mop the floor to a "new" cutting edge Engine...I just don't think EA is using it to its fullest capability...and If they are then need to spend more money on creating a new one.

I remember about 6 months before BF2 came out EA was boosting that it had the Technology to allow 100 man servers for the common gamer, and they say that technology wasn't around durring BF42. But lo and behold anything over 50 and the game starts to lag...were is this technology you speak of EA? Why are you getting spanked when it comes to graphics...would it be that much harder to make the environment alittle more realistic? Just compair the trees in CS:S to BF2.

Hit boxs aside...CS:S does have Aim assist of some sort...that is the reason you can kill someone when you don't even have the cross hairs on them. I know people that play the game don't like it but its the truth. I have seen it hundreds of times in the 2 weeks I have been playing.

there is no such thing as "aim assist". all guns have recoil. even E-guns. use it to your advantage in CS:S and you will stop complaining about it.

LOL ok the "Recoil" you speak of does this apply to the 'wounderful' AWP? When the cross hairs are in one spot but he kills a guy multipul feet away? Again if you play the game you don't want to belive it happens but it does...watch in FP mode after you die.

okay i think weve establisheed that BF2 with CSS gfx wud b really cool but is impossible rite now...
However, i personally despise CSS 4 xactly the faults mentioned above: hitting ppl is far 2 easy and some kills r often completely impossible. dats y i prefer CS condition zero. fine its gfx rent dat gr8 but the hitboxs rock and therefore so does the gameplay... and valve has also improved all of the sprites and some of the physics, So if u dont like CSS aim-messups, swithc back 2 CZ like many other CS veterans

Insurgency will be out pretty soon, the maps won't be the size of those in BF2 but it'll be squad based combat in the Middle East with HL2 graphics.

it's called lag compensation. this is an unavoidable side effect of playing ANY game (that implements this feature) on the internet. second of all, everyone knows that what happens in first person spec is not a 1:1 representation of that persons viewpoint of the game. why don't you watch the game when you're ALIVE (where it really matters) and see how the awp performs? if it still bugs you then go play lan games and stop whining about it. either that, or buy a server and DISABLE lag compensation so that you do not have to EVER worry about 'wounderful' (sic) awp shots that are 'multipul' (sic) feet away. the game is engineered in such a way that you can set it up the way that YOU want to play it. as i said before, CS has been tweaked and worked on for nearly a decade now and it is as close to perfection as you can get in a game (it is perfection imho).

ok, i have played every CS game under the sun and i honestly do not notice any difference at all with 'hitboxs' (sic). it's just your imagination. i can hit someone just as easily in any version of CS. as i said before, you are just another victim of the bandwagon effect. you have no credible evidence to back up your claims that CSS is easier than any other version. (of course you will bring up the other thousand people that are riding in your bandwagon)

Re: What BF2 can Learn from CS:S

CS:S was my fav online game but for one, small maps like you said. There were only plant a bomb or defuse it or rescue hostages keep hostages type of thing. I understand it was terrorist vs. counter-terrorist but at least something different. I played for about a year before my comp crashed and I didn't care to reinstall. In my expierence, so much prejudice and racism. Killed a person, your a noob or @$$Hole. Did something wrong your a noob. It was fun especially with mods and stuff but there wasn't enough. Graphics on CS:S was amazing but then again CS:S got boring sometimes and you just didn't feel like going on for awhile. BF2 has vehicles, huge maps, large amounts of strategies, different roles, less racism, and you can put the c4 on anything that you want and have fun. If BF2 had something like steam somewhat better graphics, then it would be better than any other FPS or MMORPG or any online game out there. CS:S was CS but with better graphics and a couple of new maps. I give both games a thumbs up but although CS:S beat BF2 graphics wise, BF2 beats it in what counts: gameplay. Nuff' Said

that's just hilarious. i remember when all the 'vets' were deriding CZ like it was some sort of plague. a few years from now you will be saying the same thing about CSS when CS2 comes out. (if it ever does)

                        #22 I second that..

Too many people are complaining about CS:S but the truth is that it's probably the most well-crafted FPS shooter out today..

It's fast, responsive, the menusystem is second to none compared to what's out there, Valve's Steam system is unparalleled etc.

Ive played CS since 1.0 and I have to say that although CS:S had some quirks compared to CS1.6 in the beginning it's more than playable now..

The hitbox issue, which was noticeable in the beginning has gone away, certainly compared to earlier iterations of the CS versions..

I switched to CS:S from 1.6 when it first came out and apart from a couple of annoyances in the earlier stages I found it quite playable and now I think its just damn good..

I haven't mentioned gameplay with good reason.. either you like playing CS or you dont.. but the quality of the software architecture and build is superb.

CS:S is too repetative, same map 30 times and 3 minutes a map.

i agree 100%. CS would not be the #1 online game for many years in a row were it not for the fact that it IS the most well-crafted FPS shooter. (ever imho)

CS has better graphic because it has smaller map. And Karkand's graphic is right up there, actually.

CS is a perfect game in nearly every single aspect for me, i used to go along with all the hitbox nonsense but now i just use the "quirks" of the engine to my advantage. those that know have good games and those that don't create steampowered forum accounts. you are just another victim of the "bandwagon effect" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandwagon_effect ). the more and more people spread lies about something they really don't even have a clue about, the more and more everybody believes it.
That's probobly because you don't see them as "issues" but they're there. See for yourself...start a server with a bot, type sv_cheats 1 in console, type sv_showhitboxes 2 in console. As far as graphics I'am sorry but you can't compare CSS graphics to BF2 because they're too totaly different games built off of different engines and aspects. CSS has alot of detail only because the maps are about half the size of the 16 player maps on bf2. That much detail in a 64 player map would cause crashing and performence issues for even high end systems. Not to mention DICE is not gonna use extra effort to put in detail thats not needed which most people would not even notice...You compare CSS to CS, BF2 to BFV/BF1942, not CSS to BF2. Sure Steam is a great thing but alot of people hate it cause of the fact that you have to log on everytime you want to play even if its just singleplayer, simluar to BF2's account system. I would imagine a steam like system for BF2, with BF2's account system, would be complete utter chaos of bug issues and probs. It would probobly affect Xfire too if theres steam and on top of that another account for the ranking and stats. Finally BF2 can't learn anything from CSS cause I believe they're two different games that are not even in the same category of shooter! CSS is a fast past action FPS where 1 AWP sniper can remain standing for the entire round and own the entire other team with headshots...teamwork doesn't exist in CSS even if you try to include it. There are no squads, there are no kits to help yourself or others, the VOIP is horrible cause of the fact a big mic icon shows up over your head when you have VOIP on. BF2 is all about teamwork and since this is totalbf2.com I don't have to explain how bf2 is all about teamwork. I'am not saying CSS is bad, its a very addicting game and in some aspects more fun then bf2 but at the same time bf2 is also addicting.
"Re: What BF2 can Learn from CS:S"..........NOTHING. 2 different games. 2 different companies. 2 different types of shooter. 2 different worlds.
