I have been trying to describe how to use the cutting tool in 3dmax..(for a member that asked..)

Hehe, cool system but is too complicated, the faster system is extrude the face you want a door or window, but moving back that extruded face to the original position and now scaling down the face. For rounded windows boolean cut (cleaning later all the unrequired vertex that boolean process creates)

complicated? thats the easiest way for a new model maker to start...

The guy that was asking this, did not understand how to use the cutting tool, how the heck is he gonna get the boolean process (including the cleanup?)

Let the guy start with my method (its very straight forward)
I will do a boolean tut in a day or two

booleans are cronic anyway. ok for a quick solution for noobs...but not very tidy.

Actually a much easier way to make a door just like the right side of the first image is to use the inset feature of polys.
