OMG Need Help Please!

Hi,

I just bought battlefield 2 last week and after i installed it i was playing on-line with the unpatched version of the game. The game would load up correctly and i could play it just fine.

I found out that there is only one ranked server with 16 players max so i looked up the most recent patch (1.12) and installed it. I would have to run the patch about 2-5 times to have it install successfully and after i installed the patch i would get one of two errors:

1. The game would crash to desktop at about 50% on the loading screen

2. The game would load up but i would get the "This server does not let you use a modified version. Please revert back to the original version of BF2." (I haven't installed any mods.)

After i got this message i uninstalled everything and re-installed BF2. Downloaded the 1.12 patch from 2 different web pages and then i tried to patch about 15 times and it never worked.

I uninstalled/reinstalled the game again and tried to just run the 1.03 version and i got the same "This server does not allow modified content."

Please help, I've been trying to get this to work for about 3 days and i've looked on this webpage for threads with this problem but i can't find them anymore.

Hi.

Have you got the box which says 'Same mod as mine' ticked? Or same version.

i think u will find u will need 1.3 patch before 1.12 patch.

I just patched 1.03 successfully and i still get the same "This server does not allow modified content" error message.

Does it have to do with my RAM?

I can play the game just fine without any patches but i get the modifed content error if patch 1.03 or 1.12 (when it works)

ok you will have to uninstall the game then install patch 1.02 then 1.03 then finally 1.12.

ok thanks, but i thought you couldn't patch over patch.

any other reasons i'd be getting this message?

think about it if you couldnt patch over a patch then everyone would have to uninstall and reinstall everytime they made a new one.

try reinstalling then taking off the patches then updating again

sometimes closing, or disabling, things in the system tray helps. Norton gave me serious issues before i disabled it

I think you're just doin stuff wrong. From what you said you closed your patch processes while it was patching. You're not suppose to touch your pc at all while its patchin, even if it takes a hour, it will patch.

i didnt read that part... why would you close the patch program when trying to patch... that just doesnt make sense?

I didn't close the patch program when it was trying to patch, each time the patch would say "Patch Incomplete" and i would try and patch again

After the patch finally work i would run the game and get the modified content error

i would disable everything you have running in the back ground, and do not use the computer while the patch is being applied. Maybe you could reinstall BF2 again and do it that way. Just dont use the internet or anything while its installing. You should be able to just uninstall bf2, reinstall it, and just install patch 1.12 with no issues
