That's called bad video drivers / overheating of the video card or a failing power supply unit.
That is not game related at all..

^fair point, but the fact that my card on stock cooling would run fine on all games except for bf2 which made it overheat suggests the game isnt the best made ever... so I now have arctic cooling i order to play the game and have not overclocked. It was fine up until 1.12 when it decided to do this every now and then

No, it isn't the best ever made. But from the screenshot, means you have serious HARDWARE problems. It has / had nothing to do with the SOFTWARE. Fix your heating issues.

          seriously?
Wow... you guys have just created a new way to troublehoots PC related issues. From now on, all we need to do is post a screencap from BF2 and these two will figure out our problems......
          ROFL... gimme a break.

Dude, looks like a driver issue, NOT a hardware one. Try rolling back to the previous drivers. If the problem vanishes, you have your answer. If the problem persists, try to un-install your video card through My Computer and then reboot. You may have a corrupt driver for the video card and this should reload the defaults and correct the issue.

Update any other drivers involved in BF such as your sound card driver as well. Then, if you still have the problem I would go down the path of it being a hardware issue.

Assuming something is hardware related is a big mistake. Most hardware manufacturers design good stuff, the issues they run into are writing code to get the product to function in the OS properly. Thats why new drivers come out all the time.

I used to get that all the time, artifacts. I have a ATI x800 flashed to Platinum standards, at core/520 memory/560 I get those issues all the time, but once I ran the ATI tool and slowed it down a bit 520 520, everything is fine again.

I used to be able to make it go away, by hitting ALT TAB, and ALT TAB back to the game. But now that I changed the memory speed down to 520 it's all good.

Oh and the latest ATI drivers made it worse.

ps. I will go out on a limb here and move this to support, not really a bug with the game, I think that ATI is working with EA to try and resolve some of thier issues.
