How do i overclock my nvidia grafix card?

I want to overclock my graphics card but i dont know what program to use.
I have a gigabyte 6600gt pcie card, do i use coolbits or do i use riva tuner which one is better?

my rig
amd 3500+ venice
nforce 4 sli mobo
1 gb ram
120 gb hdd
6600gt pcie

Nvidia cards are not teh cards for overclocking, ATI cards however are.

overclocking is ok in most places but it screws up BF2

use powerstrip to overclock

but be careful

Download and install Coobits.
It's a registry entry which unlocks the extra functions in the Nvidia display control applet.

Once installed, right click on your desktop, select Nvidia display properties and choose your monitor. You'll notice you have some more tabs available in your 6600GT display properties pop up, including Clock Frequency Settings.




As you seem new to over clocking, I suggest a cautious approach. Over clock both the core clock and memory frequencies at 10mhz intervals and run 3DMark05. If there are no artifacts, or freezing and your 6600GT temps are not rising too dramatically. Repeat the process until artifacts appear on the screen, or you have a freeze, then back off to the last setting.

With stock gfx card cooling and a PC case with good airflow, you should be able to achieve at least 10% overclock of both the core clock and memory settings.

Has anyone actually overclocked a 6600gt? I would like to know what others have clocked at and how much difference it has made to their graphics in bf2. Thats what outlaw and I would like to know. Can someone please help. I've looked at the guide but it doesnt help because I have a 6600gt not a 6800gt or 7800gt.

So therefore all Nvidia cards are bad overclockers? I think there may a flaw in your logic.
