1.12 Patch Problem?

Hi all,

Just come back on leave from the army till january come across this new patch to install installed it, obviously run into the account server troubles which have been resolved now, since then however iv logged onto my account tried loading up into a server loaded up2 "60% GEOMETRIES" when the whole game closes down and reverts back to my idle windows desktop? help please this is gettin on my nervs!!! lol

Tried already::

1) reinstalling bf2 via, unistall then reinstalled bf2 plus patch 1.03 - game dint work then installed 1.12 patch again got up2 60% server game load, any suggestions?

2) even just reinstalled bf2 then just installed the 1.12 patch which had the same problem aswell.

3) Tried downloading different patches from other sites still same problem.

Hi,

Try this:

Within your "My Documents" folder, you will have a directory for BF2 - rename this and try*.

* This will reset all settings though, if you don't want to try that first, try deleting the contents of ..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache.

I had similar problesm to this, see if that helps.

I also had to initially turn off AA and AF settings within my drivers, I don't think BF2 likes you 'forcing' unsupported options.

I get an error when trying to run the patch normally on a clean bf2 only install. when i run the patch after copying the patch.exe, patchw32.dll, PATCH.RTD, & PATCH.RTP in my bf2 directory...the patch executes but i get this in my logs.

error ept0009: Invalid Patch File 'C:\DOCUME~1\USER\LOCALS~1\Temp\bye5.tmp\Disk1\bf2 \patch.rtp'


When i load the game, the initial EA games logo comes on, goes to the beginning video, when i push escape it freezes. WTF are these idiots releasing corrupt patch sets? Did they not alpha test this sh!t!!??

Hmmmmmmm, not really, these helped me; mine used to crash at 62%.

Looks like you've tried most things, maybe try this:

1. Remove BF2 from add/remove programs.
2. Download and run CrapCleaner (CCleaner) - this is free and can be found via google. This should flush out all the temp junk.
3. Reboot - yeah I know this sounds stupid, but I work in support, so there
4. Re-install BF2.
5. Re-install the 1.12 patch.
6. Download the latest punkbuster updates manually (evenbalance.com).
7. Optional, but I do it - delete all the movie files in the BF2 installation; sorry, I'm at work and cannot recall the path.
8. Rename the BF2 folder in My Docs, then defrag the drive you installed to.
9. Reboot and try again.

I followed similar steps when trying to get BF2 SF to run, so fingers crossed....

I did exactly what you said and bf2 did not start at all!!
Then I reinstalled bf2 without any patches .. works.
Installed with patch 1.03 starts but when loading server it gets to 62%.

Gettin really ****ed with it now, any more ideas?
Anything at all will be much appriciated...

if you are talking about patch 1.03 not 1.12, then I recommend, when it gets to 62% on the server, going away and leaving it for half an hour, go watch tv or something.

apparently this works sometimes, it just takes a while the first time.

yeah, 1.12 doesnt work at all now (whearas at I could at least start loading servers before), 1.03 crashes to desktop at 62%.
My mates comp has a lower spec than mine and run 1,12 and SF fine.

EA need to sort this quick, its ****in crap.

Sorry to hear you're still not up and running

Here's an idea, not sure if you've tried it though - try lowering the in-game graphics settings.
When I put dynamic shadows on medium (from high), my 'hang' at 62% seemed to halve in wait time.

Just for info, my in-game settings are:

1280x1024@85Hz
All high (still medium for dynamic shadows though)
2xAA
100% view distance
Driver setting are application controlled AA and AF, with no overclocking - 1.12 seems very unstabled with O/C's graphics imo.

System spec is:
AMD64 3500 Winchester
MSI K8 Neo4 Platinum
2048 OCZ 3200 Platium CAS2
ATi X800XT PCI-E
SB Audigy 2ZS
Windows XP SP2

Edit -
Although I doubt this is essential, I clear the contents of ..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache\ after changing graphics settings, this 'forces' the game to re-optimise; at least that's what I have read.

I am very Confused here People. I got BF2:SF probally a week ago...and I installed Patch 1.12 Numerous Times Here are the following patches I have downloaded and I might seem like a nub. The following are: BF2_bete_full. BF2_bete_full_v2. BF2_incremental_122_13. bf2_incremental_patch_1[1].12_1.2. BF2_patch_112. BF2patch1[1].22. I am Really Pissed off Here I want to freaking play damit And Yes I do Have The regular BF2

In order to get BF2:SF to work you have to Download and repatch bf2 to v1.3

This will patch BF2 and BF2:SF at the same time and once it has done patching your all set to play.

You don't need 1.12 at all, only the latest "full" (not incremental) patch. That is currently 1.3 (~438 MB) with 1.4 probably available tomorrow.
