Bought new ram, help needed!

I got a NF4UK8AA-8EKRS motherboard by foxconn, I ha 1GB of ram before (2x512mb)d I purchased a 1GB stick.

I put in the stick in the thrid slot because the othe 2 I already had were taking the first 2 slots.....boot up....it wont POST!

So I put in the 1gb in first slot and the other 2 in 2nd and 3rd ....wont POST

1gb in slot 1, 512mb in slot 3 it does POST but it only gives me 1.5GB in single channel

512mb in slot 1 and 2 and 1gb in slot 4 wont POST


Does anyone know how to put all 3 sicks in and have dual channel? or at least single channel but be able to have the 2gb!

PS: They're all PC3200 400mhz DDR

FYI you can only have dual channel with an even number of sticks. You say you had 2x256, that makes 512MB not 1GB, which is it?

Can you give more info as to what ram you had before and what you bought?

Yes sorry.....I meant 2x512MB GEIL valueRAM and the 1GB I'm not sure ....but right now Im running 1.5GB single channel with

1GB stick in slot1
512MB stick in slot 3

Iw ant to have the full 2GB....but I dont know how to get it to POST when I have all 3 sticks in!

Sorry it won't work. To run in dual channel you need 2 ram sticks matching single or double sided placed in the dual channel slots. No board will let you run dual channel with 2x512 and 1Gb sticks.

But that's not his problem, he can't get the full 2GB to work in single channel either.

that chart indicates that only 2 sticks can be used in Single channel, if i'm reading it right.

So to get 2gb in single, you would need another 1gb stick.

But then you could just run them in dual channe.

You need to have 4x512 for 2GB in dual channel. Dual channel only works with an even number of chips. One is used to write and one is used to read, effectively doubling the bandwidth of the RAM.

4 slots, 4 sticks. It should work. But damn, 2gb is enough.
