To Upgrade, or not to upgrade. That is the question...

Hey people, I've been struggling to play the game properly (graphics wise), but sadly, its not possible with my computer spec. I have saved about $500. Heres my current gaming rig's spec

    P4 3.0GHz 800FSB
    ASUS P4P800 Mobo
    1GB Samsung DDR400 (2x512)
    MSI GeForce FX5600 256MB
    SoundBlaster Live! X-Gamer 5.1
... 80hdd, dvdrw, bla bla bla

I was first thinking of just upgrading my card and add some ram. But my motherboard has AGP slot only. And see how PCI-E is replacing AGP, im not sure if I should go for big upgrade, or just a video card/ram upgrade. 3.0 is kina good for me, since I oc to like 3.5, its decent enough for bf2.

So my question to all you ppl here, should I just upgrade my video card/ram and wait a while or should I consider getting a new mobo with sli and a new pci-e video card??? Remember, I have a low income (I'm still a student...), so price is a consideration.

Well, thx for helping me out

Since you have 500 saved up, I would try to sell your current pc and get a new one with a PCI-e motherboard.

ya, however.... I was planning to use the old bits and pieces from my computer and make a turn it into a server that i throw all my junk files in (to free up hdd space) to make my bf2 run faster.

So selling it wont be an option... So lets say if you just have $500 to spend, would you upgrade or replace?

Well you can upgrade. It will do a bit for you. Get another 1GB of RAM and then a 6800GT. That would be a nice machine.
