error connecting a socket message when trying to login in

Hi,
can anyone please give me their input as i have just brought the new special forces and updated to the new patch and now i'm getting a error message when i try and login and i havent got a clue how to fix it. any ideas on how to fix the problem?

p.s the error message is:- error connecting a socket

If you have a firewall, add "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" as a trusted application.
