          Re: Armed Assault News

They now have a publisher, and the updated release date is Q1 2007:

London, 10th October 2006 – 505 Games, the flourishing UK-based videogames publisher, is delighted to announce a publishing agreement with the highly regarded European developer Bohemia Interactive, to bring 2007’s best tactical shooter ArmA: Armed Assault to Europe(1).

Best known for the genre-breaking smash hit Operation Flashpoint, Bohemia Interactive has crafted an exceptional military shooter in ArmA: Armed Assault. The game offers players incredible realism, dense tactics and intense strategy. You will need to rely on keen eyesight, gut instincts and a sharp strategic mind if you are to survive on the expansive battlefields of ArmA. Every decision you make could mean the difference between death and glory for you and your troops.

ArmA also features extensive multiplayer modes and matches, which offer something for every online FPS gamer, whether they enjoy considered strategising or fast aggressive frag-fests. Anticipation and support for ArmA is already very strong from an eager and vocal community of PC gamers.

“We are really thrilled to enter the PC publishing market with a title with such heritage as Armed Assault,” comments Ian Howe, 505 Games’ Managing Director. “We now aim to compliment our existing portfolio by offering gamers outstanding European PC titles. The ArmA agreement is just our first step into the PC market.”

Marek Spanel, director of Bohemia Interactive, adds: "ArmA is our second major PC release. We're delighted that in 505 Games we found a strong distribution partner for a major part of Europe, as well as certain other countries. We'll be working together to fulfil the big expectations of the healthy community of gamers that arose from our debut PC game Operation Flashpoint(2) and we will again push forward the boundaries of just how deep the ultimate realistic combat simulation on PC can be."

ArmA: Armed Assault, published by 505 Games and developed by Bohemia Interactive, is scheduled for release on PC in first quarter 2007.

That sucks that its not being released until next year, I was looking forward to playing it over winter break with my brother, oh well.

Can't wait til it comes out, hopefully they'll find a US publisher soon, don't know why many US publishers haven't jumped at the chance to sell this game, considering how great the last game (OFP) was.

that'd be nice, specially cause it would make getting patches and finding servers a lot easier. I hope it is as well.

                          Re: Armed Assault News

I noticed you were interested in this game.

Armed Assault is the sequel to a very good game called Operation Flashpoint.

Ok, I noticed you were interested in Armed Assault. I often check out your site for cool videos and I noticed this thread. I am a regular user of Operation Flaspoint (of which ArmA is a sequel) and I also make videos.

I like to say that OFP is a very good game, Arm.A which has just been released in the Czech Republic is even better. THe possibilities are extensive. The OFP comunity is hundreds strong and the modifications you can get for game at the moment are very impressive. Dont get put off by talk of complex scripting. The communtiy will help you, the site www.ofpec.com for example is purely for OFP editing, if you want to learn, thats where you go. Even with a limited knowledge you could create something fantastic with a little time and patience.

Ok, I am also part of the OFP Movie Makers Team (website has recently been relaunched) you can find us at www.ofpmm.info . We aim to host the best videos in OFP!

I myself have recently released my own video made in OFP, called Crisis Vietnam. You can get it from here ftp://www.ofpr.info/ofpd/videos/CrisisVietnam.rar.

I'd also like to mention some other great OFP sites so you can learn a little bit more. www.ofp.info hosts up to date news and dowloads of just about every addon and modification you could need for OFP. You might also like to know about the BI forums, these are the official forums for OFP, so plenty goes on here ... http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bi.../ikonboard.cgi.

So with all this information on OFP, I hope it attracts you to Armed Assault which is an awsome improvement on OFP.

To date we have had every addon thinkable from Lego wars to WWII mods.

In my opinion the best video made in OFP is Blue Sky.

                          ftp://www.ofpr.info/ofpd/videos/BLUESKY.wmv

                          Thanks.

Any news on a publisher for the US, or am I just going to have to order a British copy of the game and play it (or is there going to be a multi-language installer available?)

No news for the U.S. Your best bet is to get a British copy. Should still work fine though, and there is some sort of multiple language support if needed.
