    1.12 kicking my ass

    Hey guys,
I'm getting really ****ed here. I have a "high-end" computer, 2.8ghz, 1 gig ddr 400, and a GeForce 6800GT and i can't play BF2 with the new patch for the life of me. Any online game is so laggy i would think it's a slideshow. And just playing single player isn't much better. I've got the newest Nvidia drivers (don't worry, i unistalled the old ones first)
I'm just wondering if anyone is experiencing the same thing, or if anyone has some solutions for me. Thanks guys!

    exact same thing here

friend has almost identical specs as you

    6800GT runs like total crap.
unplayable, like 15-20 fps with everything on LOW.
now with the new patch doesnt run at all.

i have a 6600 and it runs awesome.

    doesnt make sense

was yours always slow or just after patch?

      Re: 1.12 kicking my ass

My sig has my setup and while i CAN play without lag on a 32 person server on Karkand, 50 and 64 player servers on Karkand right around the fighting (which NEVER used to lag with all settings turned up) lags now...

Seems like they re-introduced the memory leak that was in 1.02...Anyways, it better get fixed because our specs are too high for there to be ANY lag whatsoever with low ping...

This is a known problem with the newest patch.

Im only running on a 5500 256 mb with 768 RAM. But before the new patch I never had lag except on servers with noobs playing with like 200+ pings. But now with this new patch, my accuracy is off and it seems like my framrate as well has slowed down. WTF DICE?????? EA????? whoever, fix your F-up!

i had the same problem it might be in your directx. i checked it like this go to start button then run type in dxdiag then clcik the tab that says display go down to clcick on test direct draw watch the bouncing box see how fast it moves it should bounce pretty fast. watch for it to slow down that's what mine did. i had to turn vertical sync off in my geforce settings that helped alot.

Yep, also have a 6800GT and my FPS took a nosedive after the patch. My vsync is set of off/app controlled under Nvidia settings. I don't tweak any of those settings much, so I'm infer the above poster says the new patch turns on vsync in game?

I'm running a 256Mb 6800GT with a AMD64 3000 (running at 1.8Ghz standard) and 2GB of DDR400 RAM. No problems whatsoever here, runs just fine and always has.

Never had a problem except that quite often I fail to connect to a server on the first attempt.

Give him a break. He did put "high end" in quotes. Also, his post was 12 hours ago. 12 hours ago it was high end.

                              Re: 1.12 kicking my ass

Personally I have not found this to be the case... I have a AMD64 +3200 (which is like what? 2.1GHz?), 1GB RAM (p3200 DDR), 6800GT (using the 81.95 drivers) and Audiology 2ZS all on WinXP Pro SP2...

In BF2 with everything set to Medium and 1240x1024 (no FSAA) I get completely smooth grahical performance even in the fastest jet roaring around at low level. I am considering moving to 2GB RAM as this may allow me to run at High settings rather than Medium...

Now on BF2:SF with the same settings as above things are usually okay except on some of the maps if I try flying the choppers I can hit a slight but noticable framerate issue. I put this down to the levels being 'busy' or packed full of objects and this possible leading to memory issues.

I mean plain BF2 with the above settings runs at around 650MB memory usage (and I mean just the BF2.eve process) the machine itself is running at around 850-900 MB usage so you can set how bumping up the settings or having more complex maps could lead to memory issues...

Your system sounds pretty cool and I would suggest doubling up your RAM and checking your drivers to get the most out of it...
