        Re: F.e.a.r

I played it. Finished it much quicker than anticipated.

The demo is scarier than the game and does not follow any level in the game. (It is a patchwork of different settings from different levels blended into a demo level(which was very good))

The thing (Endboss in the end of the demo is not in the game)

The endind will have you wanting to kill the company that made it. It SUCKED!!!!!!

The enemy AI is, despite being tonted as learning, adapaptable etc, is predictable and repetative "See you, call in reinforcements then wait for you to make the move). I literally shot at a group of guys, ducked back behind the corner, got called downstairs to take my daughter to daycare.... I came back and was still alive. That and the eney was still ducked behind the same cover they were after my 1st shot (This was over about a 25 minute span). ****-poor in my opinion.

You can not react with most the environment (Another thing the game originally stated) you can, however knock over some barrels, boxes etc, and a lot of things will blow up/break. But you will soon become fristrated with that empty milk carton that is lying in front of the door that you keep being blocked from entry by,

        The Pros:

Awsome graphics and sound!!! One of the best I have seen to date.
Slo-mo feature adds a lot to the game but unfortunately becomes repetative and can be used to slaughter every badguy in a room (With exception of heavy armored troops)

I did not play multi player. Finished the 1st player and was so ****ed at it I tossed it into a drawer in the computer room.

I would think the average fps player will beat the game on difficult settings in about 10-12 hours of play. They so aparently set this up to sell addons, part II... etc.

        overall disapoited

tip: try playing it on a difficulty other than easy.

Thanks for the insight. But I did. It is how I got the 10-12 hour thing in the post. But your opinions and insightful posts are what keep me comming here

very good game in my opinion... very short though, i personally found the AI very challenging on the "difficult" setting... they tend to frag and flank you alot, not sure you could leave the game for 25mins and come back and still be alive and that setting........ plus it scared the crap out of me!! 1st cpu game to ever do that and ive played all the classics lol (doom 3, resudent evils and so on).. there 1 point when your watchin a screen of a paxton (main bad guy) and all of a sudden the little girls face pops rtight up in the screen!!! freaked me right up lol... but very enjoyable!

Perhaps I found the one spot that had a glitch in it when I left it running without being killed for that duration.

But in my opinion the AI was not all that greater than many other games out there. They trew grenades and flanked. The same radio messages came across the entire time (which while I understood is necessitated by the fact that the game wont have endless dialog) also gave indications to how they were attacking and their current state (It was allways the same radio message/chatter when they got down to the last man etc.

But by "very short" I would think that you beat the game. What are your thoughts on the ending?

Kinda reminds me of Pacman where there are some areas of the game where the ghosts will never go.

Really? I never knew that about pacman and I used to play the hell out of that game.

Yeh ending was opened ended same sorta MGS 2 style phone call ending lol hope they do a sequel, tho the AI was not groundbreaking i do feel that it is the next step of AI with "alot" of chatter and if worked the AI in the sequel could be phenomenal!!! but yeh the last couple of lvls are weird!! wiv tho spectres she sends at u that do nothin but die in 1shot but if they get ya!! oh boi ur in trouble. The game on the whole is pretty fukked up lol

Far to short but the quality is there . Deffo play on the stiffed setting , it will make it last longer.

Good game, and there's some humour in it to, if you get the xtra clips up, is short but worth playing.
