I don't understand why I'm gettins such a ****ty framerate when my system is comparable, if not better, than some of the ones I see here.


I have: 7800 GTX, 3GB RAM, P4 3GHZ HT, RealTek Audio

I usually average about 35-65 FPS. All settings on high, except AA. (I can't tell the difference with AA on max or AA off). I got to do an interesting test of BF2. Just yesterday, I got a 2nd 7800GT to enable SLI mode. I was surprised to find that SLI really did not help my frame rates that much. I put AA on max (the only setting I had set less than max) and got much lower framerates in fights. At one point I was getting 18FPS in a fight.

I think there is some seriously wrong in the BF2 engine that needs to be patched.

My Specs:

AMD X2 4400+ 1MB Cache
Jetway 939 SLI
2 Gigs of OCZ Platinum DDR 400
2 XFX 7800 GTs in SLI Mode
HP 23" Widescreen Monitor running at a res of 1920x1200
Widescreen hack enabled for BF2.
3Dmark 05 score of 10,700

dont know how you can say you dont see a differnce in turning aa on or off.. And from what i know it always gives a hit in fps so there is nothing wrong with it


anyways thought nvidias new drivers fixed the sf issue? guess not

SB Audigy2 zs
PCIe Nvidia 6800 (256mb)


I do have 2 questions though (Maybe someone can help)

1)My other computer has the SB Audigy 2 Platinum.... is this a better/worse card than the Audigy 2 zs? (I cant tell by reading the info on the net with them and havent found a decent comparison site)

2) Since upgrading to new nvidia drivers: 81.85? The sand bags in the game look "golden". Almost as if reflecting light off of a gold object. Doesnt effect gameplay... just looks funny.

Yeah, I wasn't very clear. What I meant to say is that quality wise, I don't see an improvement. I see my FPS drop, but visually, I can't tell the difference from AA set to max to AA off. Visually I can't tell the diffence. My friends say that they do see a difference though. Maybe it is because that I am running at such a high res (1920x1200) and they are running at 1024x768. Dunno.

I was just really surprised that i didn't see my FPS go through the roof with dual 7800 GT's. I just did another test and played Iron Gator. My highest FPS was around 60, lowest was around 25 in fights.

Plus now with dual 7800GTs, I can no longer use my dual monitors, which is another reason I won't be keeping this card.

Nearly everyone has seen the "liquid" sandbags. I believe its a bug in the sandbags themselves because I've seen it reproduced in unofficial maps as well. I also once saw a cement wall that was half "liquid". Are you sure that you haven't just started noticing because you're being more investigative because of all the problems people are having? I haven't seen anyone say that it was driver specific.

tsh2005 check his resolution. 1920x1200. i know that when I run the game at 1600x1200 (same resolution just a different shape), I can run with AA off or on 2x and it looks pretty good.

im getting 15-35 fps, and that is pretty bad even for me, ive got an Athlon 3000+, 1 gig of ram, and a nvidia 5500 vid card

Ya my system stinks, but before the patch i was getting 50 fps on vinilla BF2 so i hope EA gets out that hotfix soon (do everyones fps drop a lot when you are around teargas, cus that is usually when i get the worst fps)

90-100 looking at a wall, goes down to around 50-60 light combat, 30-40 artillary/heavy fighting on screen.

Using the latest softmodded Cats and ATi Tray Tools to adjust speed and timings, I average 25-55 FPS with all medium settings, 2x AA + 2x AF and 1024x768 res. Durring intense combat and other situations, the FPS will dip below 20 for a short period but this happens few and far between. Specs below!

In reference to noticing before.... I think you hit it on the head. I was looking more closely after I changed o the new drivers and bet that is it. Especially since you mentioned others had described it before.

I just decided to give up and lower my AA to 2x with res at 1280x1024 and framerate didn't change at all. That's with deleting the cache and defragging! For me, it doesn't seem to matter what the settings are, the framerate stays the same.

90-120 while in a calm spot. no shooting or any 1 around.
and around 60 in a firefight
20 when alot of explosions are going on around me.

just some tips here you may want to give a shot,my avg online fps never falls below 90fps, in single player 120-130 fps, remember your internet connection plays a role in your fps!,if your laggy your game will stutter and frames will drop accordingly.

i went into my nvidia driver and set the following

AA-application controlled
AF-application controlled
texture filter-blinear
AA mip sample -on
triple buffering -off
negative lod bias - set to clamp
disable vertical synch
image quality set to- "performance"

**if you set your nvidia to max performance your cpu may limit its capability,most newer vid cards far out strip cpu's---alternately dont set it to high quality or the reverse may happen***

AAx2
geometry-high
texture-high
effects-medium
lighting-medium
dynamic light & shadows-medium
draw distance 97%
the rest -medium
eax is also set to "hardware:high"

it sounds to me that you need to go into your driver panel and fart with it a bit you may have some settings all wrong the most common ones bieng "perfomance-image quality" and "textures set to bilinear"

and remember
YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO GO INTO BIOS AND SET AGP ARPETURE TO 256

AND FOR GOD SAKE DISABLE VERTICAL SYNCH.
