Or is it something granular that we apply to every single bullet someone fires, every action they take. Or both? Neither?

Someone nail that down and then we'll talk about ways to measure it.

Well by examining your stats briefly, I'd say you are quite "skilled" with assault rifles, carbines, and shotguns. I'm basing my idea of "skill" on your high accuracy with these weapons, and your K/D ratio for each. Impressive.

It's all relative I suppose...Your accuracy is higher than the norm, so therefore you are "skilled" with those weapons in my book.

Ultimately you are right in that not all will agree on a global definition or scale of "skill"...

Well you're a much better player than me, I still have more deaths than kills, but I'm catching up. The thing with squads is that a lot of them huddle around each other, and it's easy to kill a bunch of them at once with a hand grendade or well placed fire. They should spread out more and act like 'lone wolves' working together.

True. I always try and get them to spread out except when we are going through tight spots or clearing an area. I hate it when everyone huddles around the medics when they revive.

The debate of true skill is and will always be an ethical battle royale in a virtual world. Skill in the minds of different players will always be different. There are players that roleplay and do only whats possible of a soldier in this game. Then there are those that do what a "player" is capable of doing in this game. Exploiting things like BHing, DDing and the like. Remember the "supposed" best assault class player was seen DDing to win? In his mind he's the best because his skill as a "player" surpasses one of a "soldier" Then there are those that do the nasty things without regret. They can be grouped into the "player" category. They grab armor in your uncapurable flag and proceed to rape. Or more severely noticeable with SF is they whore helicopters. This is a shaky line because as a "soldier" using the helicopter and armor effectively isn't exploiting at all. The problem arises with the rock paper scissors idea of the game. There isn't an effective weapon against the air vehicles yet AA is still frustratingly hard to hit the target. Armor is still hard to defeat as infantry the TOW missiles need better protection atleast at a head on capacity.

As a personal opinion I fall in to playing as a "soldier"

Hmm... 0 points when you are in a good sqaud... something SERIOUSLY wrong there...
ok im always in a squad - most of the time a very good squad - but a couple o' days ago i was in a squad with 2 other guys... it was on Fushe Pass and all we did was capture flags, defend flags, kill people on the way, and one of em was a medic and the other a support guy... we worked so well as a team not only did i get about 90+ points but i also go a great teamswork score - over 50 - because in that round i actually got my 'Legion of Merit Ribbon' which you need 50 teamwork points to get... (i was also squad leader)

so basically if you are a squad leader and you get the best squad in the round, with you getting a score of 0, that would mean that you actually DO go and hide in a dark corner for the whole round otherwise you would've come across an enemy and killed him... is that not correct?

            ~Slug

PS: i also got a gold medal in that round too (woot) :p
