Help: Why aren't the medic's shock paddles working?

I am not new to BF2 but I have what sounds like a noob question: I almost never play as a medic but when I played yesterday as a medic in BF2: SF (don't remember which army) I couldn't revive anyone as a medic. Is there something wrong with my technique? I lie down next to the dead person and shock them with the paddles but repeated attempts were not successful. Is there a specific part of the body that must be shocked? What am I doing wrong?

aim for the chest. I find it works best when proned. Also, dead people cant be revived, only those that are 'a bit' dead:)

It also depends on how the person died, if by arty, its normally never possible to revive someone.

When I first started, I didn't know why it took 2, 3, maybe even more tries to revive someone, but I found out, there is a little medic ICON in the middle of the screen, normally where the crosshairs are when you have a gun. Make sure that is pointing towards the persons Chest/Body, and you should revive them most of the time within the first try.
Sometimes when a person is killed, you can revive him before he disappears. My friend was hit by artillery and flew up really high in air and landed in front of me....i quickly revived him. We both thought it was quite funny. I don't know if it was a glitch or what, but it worked somehow that one time.

I only play as medic, well 90% of the time....and oddly enough i found that the best way to revive (in the first shock) is when im a few centimenters from the "dead" soldier, doesnt matter if im shocking the head or the feet.

But sure is annoying when you run through the fire to revive someone and the shock doesnt work in the first time.
btw, you can revive them even while you walk.

No need to crouch or prone?

Krpano is right, When you get good enough, you can just run by the guy, no need to lay on your stomach, zap some life into him and run away fairly quickly when you aquire good aim, sometimes they arent even that close to me and it works.

confrimed you do not have to be prone or crouch, I just prefer to do it that way - seem to get them on the first shock each time. just personal preference. lessens the need to time the hell out of a run by shocking.

plus i can keep my eyes on the horizon, rather than stare at the ground

Just put that medic icon thats in the middle of the screen pointed straight at a body part.

Took me a few minutes to get the hang of it.
