how do dual monitor work on desktop. i need some help, my dad just bought a new comp. it has an x600 with a dvi and vga port in the back. he wants to have two monitors, and the first monitor is hooked up through the dvi port, if you connect another monitor, would it make the desktop wider and how do you choose which side to control at which time, or do u just move ur mouse, because having a split in the middle of the screen seems wierd.

You can either just plug the second monitor in and it will just work if you're using Windows XP. There's some options in the display settings as far as whether you want to extend your desktop to the new monitor (most likely yes) or mirror it.

The second monitor will work any way you want it to...except for giving you extra functionality with games
You can clone/mirror your first monitor, you can span both monitors like a virtual desktop, you can send specific applications over to the second monitor...it certainly is a nice feature.
