crashing to desktop

I am not sure if this has been asked before. I have looked a few pages into the forums and havn't seen it. I am running a brand new Dell with plenty of ram and a 256 graphics card...etc. My problem is that I will be in a game and the game will simply shut down and send me to my desktop. No error message...no nothing!!...this has really only happened with SF.

1. has anybody else experienced this?
2. what are the most probable causes?

any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance!

Did u get the extra warranty from dell if so ring them. They wil tell u to ring ea. Which will result in you coming here .... The answers is in Mr Miyagi who died last week.

I get random CTDs when in the middle of a game too. Sometimes 5 min, sometimes 20 min, sometimes an hour, but one thing's for sure, this definitely didn't happen pre-1.12. I'm using an ATI x800 pro with the new Cats 5.12, although the 5.11's also did the same.

I have the same problem, although, it occurs very infrequently for me. It has maybe happened 5 times since the patch came out and three of those were in one day.

What also happens to me is that sometimes I am randomly just brought to the desktop. I just simply click on BF2 in the task bar and it brings me right back, but I always think it has crashed when this happens . . . so it scares me.
