    Re: cd-key issue

I had the problem also. I screwed around with tech support for a couple days with no help. I read a post that they reinstalled BF2 & only used the SF 1.12 patch. So that's what I did & it works fine now. Fortunately I kept the SF download.

      Re: cd-key issue

There was a thread on this a while ago, that helped me and a lot of people fix this issue. Why isn't it a sticky?
      This was it: http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showt...=bf2cdkeycheck
This was the post that helped me, but you'll need to look on the first page to find the link to the bf2cdkeycheck.exe.

When I connect to an SF server the message "Serial Key not valid" (only in German) cames but now I can play BF2.
After a look in this forum I see that it is true with the registry key.
BF2CDKeyCheck.exe change only the regkey Battlefield 2/ergc

So my steps that solve the problem for me was:

      1. enter your cleartext BF2 key to Battlefield 2/ergc
      2. start BF2CDKeyCheck.exe
      3. export/save Battlefield 2/ergc
      4. enter your cleartext BF2SF key to Battlefield 2/ergc
      5. start BF2CDKeyCheck.exe
      6. copy string from Battlefield 2/ergc to Battlefield 2 Special Forces/ergc
      7. import your backup from point 3.

I have the DVD version and uses BF2CDKeyCheck.exe from the support directory.

      Good Luck from Germany

          Re: cd-key issue

OK i'll simply explain every step, I think that will help you more.

          1. click start, then click on run, then type regedit.

          2. go to Hkey_local_Machine/Software/Electronic Arts/EA Games/Battlefield2/ergc , there you should see something like:
          (standard) Reg_sz x939...............
*do note that in Hkey_local_Machine/Software/ you may have EA games and Electronic Arts beneath it,( you should click on Electronic Arts and then on EA games, in the subdirectory of Electronic arts.

          3. Click on "(standard)", or if it doesn't say that click on the first word, for me that word is (standard). Click on that with your right mouse button, click on edit with your left mouse button.

          4. You should see a long string of numbers highlighted, click with your right mouse button on them and select "copy".

5.Now open up notepad and past it there, save the file on your desktop whith a name like bf2cdkey.

          6. Now go again to Hkey_local_Machine/Software/Electronic Arts/EA Games/Battlefield2/ergc, and again rightclick and select edit but this time delete those numbers.

          7. after you have deleted those numbers type in that place the cdkey of special forces.

          8. close the registry

          9. run bf2cdkeycheck.

          10. reopen the registry and go again to Hkey_local_Machine/Software/Electronic Arts/EA Games/Battlefield2/ergc,

          11. Again rightclick and select edit, then rightclick on that string of numbers and select copy.

          12. now go to Hkey_local_Machine/Software/Electronic Arts/EA Games/Battlefield2 Special forces/ergc, and rightclick there and select edit.
Now simply delete the numbers you see there and rightclick and select past.
So now you have pasted the numbers you previously copied from Hkey_local_Machine/Software/Electronic Arts/EA Games/Battlefield2/ergc

          13. Now open up that notepad file you made, bf2cdkey.

          14. select the numbers you pasted there and go to Hkey_local_Machine/Software/Electronic Arts/EA Games/Battlefield2/ergc
rightclick, select edit, delete teh numbers you see there and copy the numbers from the notepad file.

*Do note that you do not necesairly need to do that with the notepad file, you can also simply once again type in your bf2 key in Hkey_local_Machine/Software/Electronic Arts/EA Games/Battlefield2/ergc and run bf2cdkeycheck.exe. But I had lost my bf2 Cdkey so i did it this way.
