BF2 demo corrupted?

I've got some older demo files (from previously recorded matches, *.bf2demo) that used to work however after the 1.12 patch they no longer work.

Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with the files? Is there a log I can read for verbose troubleshooting?

The 1.12 patch was for the retail version only. The demo is stand alone and does not take any patches.

Why would the demo work before and not now? Multiple people have issues with the same demo file.

Correct, but because it is a demo, it is highly unlikely that it will be fixed. The demo was not meant to be patched in the first place. It should just be the initial install and nothing more.

maybe i wasn't clear. I'm not talking about the game demo, I'm talking about the demo recordings used to play back matches, etc. (*.bf2demo files).

oh hahaha, my bad. That I'm not sure on. I would contact EA and see what they say.

probably because its a different build the 1.12 patch cant play older demos. this is a common issue in other games too.
