BF hanging on start

Hi all, I am looking for some help here. Any ideas would be great.
I installed BF2 Sf and then install the Patch. Everything installed successfully, but now when I launch either SF or BF2 straight, after the initial splash screen my monitor goes blank and just sits there, when I check Task manager BF2 is Not responding. BF2 has been running flawlessly on my system from the Demo through all the patches until now.
I am Running -
AMD 3200+ Venice processor
2 GB Ram
GeForce 6800 256 MB PCI
All my drivers were updated last week.

lucky you i cant install i have a Intel 2,8 3000+ geforce radeon 9600 pro (256mb) and 1 gb ram and i get an error message when im trying to install the patch

"An Intel 2.8, 3000+" - It's either an Intel 2.8 or an AMD 3000+

"Geforce Radeon 9600 Pro" - I think you mean ATI Radeon . . .

Error installing patch - Uninstall everything, use a registry cleaner, defrag, reinstall and it should work.

hmm random idea - rename the movies folder in battlefield2\mods\ to something else (i.e xmovies) if that doesnt help - rename it back. Also - try disabling your sound card (right click in device manager, click disable) then run the game. At least then we can work out what the problem is a little better.
