    Asus 7800 Gtx Top Problem

I upgraded my ATI X850PE to a new Asus 7800 GTX TOP PCIe card. Now for some reason, when I try and load BF2 or BF2 SF, I get the BF2 splash screen for about three seconds and then go back to my desktop. Any ideas? I have the latest BF2 patches and Nvidia drivers. Asus tech support told me to reinstall BF2 which I did. They next recommended I reinstall Windows which I really don't want to do. I have a Dell XPS Gen 5 and have had no problem with the X850PE. I would think the 7800 GTX TOP would have been a straight forward install. All other video (DVD playback) is functioning normally with the new 7800. I am at a loss as to why this would be happening.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

check u have the latest 81.94/95 (or if your performance suffers, try 81.84) nvidia drivers. Try running the game with your sound disabled, and try renaming your movies subdir so that the background movie doesnt load. Is it an NFORCE mobo? if so try latest drivers (6.70 / 7.15)

Re: Asus 7800 Gtx Top Problem

Thanks for the input. I resolved the problem but not sure how or what did it. I had the latest Nvidia driver 81.95 installed, but that did not do it. I then installed the latest driver for my Creative Audigy 2 ZS board, which by the way gave me a really cool 5.1 effect in my headphones. I finally reinstalled BF2 SF with the 1.12 update and bingo, problem solved.
