To Fix Performance Issues?

Has anyone fixed the bad performance issues with bf2sf by completely uninstalling both bf2 and bfsf and reinstalling?

I ask because thats a lot of work to be done and if its not helping at all it would be a large waste of time.

These are my specs: xp3200+ 1.5gig ram , ati x800 xl , xfi xtreeme.

I am also having problems with ati 5.11 drivers. Whenever I try to use the drivers I restart and windows runs very very slowly. I tried driver cleaner and an ati remove utility to make sure that all the drivers previously had been removed. This still keeps happening and I am forced to restore the pc to an earlier date. Its annoying because If the new 5.11 drivers actually help I would like to be using them. Im using 5.9 any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Update your gpu drivers, for NVidia users it has helped 99% of the people to use the 81.95. Also, search next time!

Ty for replying but i did say i cant update my gpu drivers , i also said i have an ati x800 xl

windows key + r > msconfig > startup tab > disable all unessintal programs > restart > done

Basicly stops programs from launching at boot which makes both boot faster and saves ram. It will make your computer perform better in most cases.

no. i did it and wasted 2+hours. heck, i even bought a separate 10gb hd just for bf2 and did NOTHING!

That has jack all to do with it considering the performance has got considerable worse since i installed the patch, it is the game not the items on the computer, i did install the drivers and i believe they have helped me a bit, but it is still not back to what it was.

I uninstalled BF2 completely and manually and reinstalled BF2 from DVD, then installed SF, then installed the v1.12 patch.

No effect.

Total waste of time.

I actually have tweaked windows and I use profiles to use windows. My gaming profile that I use now has only the necessary porgrams running in the background.

What I have found if this helps anyone.... Once you have loaded bf2 press alt+tab and go back to desktop , right click taskbar , task manager , look for bf2.exe and right click it and choose high priority. Also do the same for ~e5.0001 or whatever set it to high priority. I have 1.5 gig ram so i duno if anyone under 1 gig should try this but it does help with bf2 vanilla , bfsf performs poorly regardless.

Theres nothing wrong with freeing up ram to make things run smoother and by the sound of ur problem sounded like a memory problem in the game or not.

81.95 actually give me a slight fps drop.
