I'd love to pass judgement on this map, but since it is a lag-fest to the X'th power I'll have to wait.

I managed one round on it that was tolerable, playing from the MEC side and whoring the attack helo, but inside the ship my FPS goes to h3ll in a hurry.

I hate the inside/under of the carrier. The outside/top of the carrier is more playable. I hang around the outside/top of the carrier until something is done either by me or EA/Dice to make the map more playable inside/under the carrier.

the map is terribly designed.

ive played this map about 6 times and only once did the MEC manage to get a flag on the carrier. The MEC team should have a uncappable spawn on the carrier or at least be allowed grapplin hooks to get their selves up onto the carrier

I think its a pretty cool map, and if the MEC does it right they can easily gain a foothold. But grappling hooks would be very cool.

Just played irgon gator on a 64 server. Not only that it lags like hell. With 20+ AT guys on therear end of the carrier it is impossible to get even near the ship.

played iron gater with high settings....
Geometry, Effects, Textures, Lighting on high.

( 1.5 gigs 128 mb vid card ) and it was a complete lag fest...

then i tuurned my settings lower...
Geometry-medium
Effects- high
Textures- Medium
Lighting- low

and it played MUCH MUCH better, lag was phenominally decreased.


Specs:
Ati Radeon X300 series 128 mb vid card.
1.5 gigs Random access memory
2.4 gHz pentium 4 processor

What the hell is all this complaining about lag? My comps aint the sharpest knife in the drawer, but it runs it smoothly.

its a laggy map, its more like a tk fest than a frag fest, i ended up having -7 today

to ruhanga, most of us currently expirience some lag due to the new patch

yep does suck, good design of in the carrier is cool but needs to be expanded more for the US to capture flags onto the land , when the editor comes out i think i will, since they fubar'd it neway.

i dont get any lag... its my least favorite map though mainly because you get lost inside the carrier.

Just tried an other server from a diffrent game server hoster - no lags. That somewhat proves that it is a server side issue even though they (k-play) are still claiming that their BF2 servers get barely beyond 40% cpu load

I love it! Iron Gator is a great map, next to Devils Perch one of my Fav's I think. I hated it at first becouse the huge lag and stuff, but then I figured I would just stay away from the 64 player servers untill EA fixes their damn screw ups. So I just pulled my video settings down a bit, here and there. From 4X AA to 2X AA, dynamic shadows to medium, texture filtering to medium. Already runs a bit smoother now.

Yea, that would be my advise to anyone having performance issues. Just avoid the big server untill it's solved.
Iron Gator is a great map when played without lag and FPS Problems .
