Patch oddity and now probs

I didn't see this on any posts, I feel it may be somewhat important.
I have done reinstalls and patches etc. for BF2.
My latest prob was atempt w/1.12 updater (BF2 goes back to desktop on start-up)

Natch, I fig I wait till I get BF2SF add on B4 I battle w 1.12 again.
Meanwhile I reinstall BF2/1.01/1.02/1.03 all in safe mode W/ reboot inbetween each.

heres the odd part; Previous patch installs that didn't fail said,"Patching succesful"

This latest installation all 3 were good, only they said "patching completed" (click "finish" etc.) NOT "patch succesful"

When "patch succesful" I didn't get "modified content, revert..." message when trying to join servers, and played without problems.
With "completed" I DO get "modified content, revert" message @ every attempt to join servers.

Anyone else have any similar 'sitch?

I plan on uninstalling everything BF2 related in a couple of minutes. Going to scour my registry for any leftovers from previous mods (I haven't installed any since this latest reinstall but who knows...)

Unfortunately, the other guy having this problem that I know of tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Also, my framerate suffered a little from repatching even though I've defragged and rescanned my harddrive for adware/spyware/malware/worms/viruses.

I'm sure that I'll figure out how to get onto my own lan by the end of today so keep an eye on these two forums. I'll post my solution if I find it (which I most likely will).

Before trying to use my LAN, I got BF2 and Special Forces working great. Everything HIGH and 4xAA with an average of 40fps; plan to be back there again tomorrow.

Good luck with your situation. I've been working wtih Special Forces all weekend. And even once I get everything golden, I have to do it all over again when my 10k Raptor replacement comes in =P

I am suspicious of the different messages after the patches are done installing.
When I read "patching succesful" The "modified content, revert to current version" message was zip, zilch, NADA, and I was playing any/all servers.

With "patching completed" I get the "modified content" at EVERY server I try.
It seems like the kind of insignificant nuance that ends up being a thorn further down the road.

Typical tho, EA is now consumed by greed, and we are shovled half aced games that need more patching than the ducks at a shootin gallery.

http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43402 I documented what I did and the problem is fixed, but I'm pretty sure if the problem could be located, that you could avoid this kind of process. Sometimes it's simplier to just reinstall instead of look for the problem, but simplier isn't always the shortest route. It took me 4 hours (although I did some fairly redundant optimizing just in case). Good luck, hope you figure/figured it out.

Will be doing the whole shmeer again, total wipe, reinstall, will report if patches say "successful" or "Completed"

BTW my "completed" patches had a number of wpt error 0015's and a few 0036's in my report file (dpm folder or some shxx)

Pay attention to the end of the install. It does say completed, but when you press "okay" , a larger window pops up and says "The patch has been sucessfull!" or something along those lines. I paid attention when I finished because of what you said, out of curiosity. But if you're getting errors that's never good.
