On most servers I get THIS message right before I'm able to click "Join Game"...anyone know why?

I have the same problem and opened up a thread in Battlefield 2 Discussion but no one's responded either. I know what the problem is technically. It means that I (we) have installed unofficial mods like bot changers or any of the other various mods being developed for the game (like the skelly mod for the Apocolypse mod). But I don't have any of these installed and both the serverlauncher I'm using and my game is patched to 1.1.2554.356

I assume you've done the 1.12 patch? Good luck. Hopefully we figure it out.

Personally, I've reinstalled the latest patch more times than I care to count. This is my only remaining problem since Special Forces. I keep getting kicked off of my own LAN =(

I haven't seen this in a while, but when I did, it was usually a Punkbuster issue. Try updating PB. If that fails, re-install the game from scratch.

uninstall both sf and bf2. install bf2, install special forces, install the patch, thats what i did and it worked

I've uninstalled/reinstalled the patch, BF2, SF everything still get the same GAY message.

I documented my reinstall and now its working. You don't have to do EVERYTHING that I did. I was trying to figure out what the problem was as I cleaned up, and did a lot of redundant optimizing. But everything works now. Good luck.
