Re: How do you guide TV missles?
There is a little trick to become more accurate. First of all it is good to have a pilot that realizes the gunner is the most powerful weapon an attack helicopter has and if he can hold still long enough to get a target in sight it will make your TV guided strike much more deadly. So you as the gunner spots a tank, you right click (alt fire) and bring up the TV cam, move the crosshair to the target and fire. Now this is the trick...DO NOT try to steer the missle!! The point is to guide the missle by "painting" your target. So what I do is click once to fire and then keep rapidly clicking on the target, this is where a steady pilot comes in handy.
I hope this helps.Comment

Actually, once you´ve fired a steady pilot is completely irrelevant, as you now have the missile view, which is unaffected by the chopper´s maneuvers.Originally posted by virussntSo what I do is click once to fire and then keep rapidly clicking on the target, this is where a steady pilot comes in handy.Comment

he doesn'tOriginally posted by virussntCome to think of it...you have a good point there.
I mean sure once ur in camera view, the chopper can do whatever it wants, but the camera view missile will remain under your control.
The trick is to have the pilot go slow ans still when there is a tank up ahead.
I as a pilot always set the gunner up for TV missile strikes, but the problem for me is having a decsent gunner that will understand what I want him to do.Comment

Yes I doOriginally posted by Fall0uthe doesn't
What I meant is that the pilot can do evasive maneuvers/put the nose down etc. once the missile is released. This is actually a pretty good idea as it will reduce the chance to get hit. Before release the pilot of course should present a stable view to his gunner.Comment

Re: How do you guide TV missles?
As virussnt says, 'guiding' tv guided missiles is not as it seems - a TV missile aims at whatever you click on, so when 'guiding' a missile, the idea is to constantly paint the target with your crosshair.
In this way you are constantly giving the missile a new tracking course and can 'guide' it into it's target. Do bear in mind one thing though, there is a short delay between clicking in the TV screen once and being able to do this a second time and because of this you will need to time your 'guiding clicks' well.
Another thing - the real trick comes in hitting a chopper that's veering left and right across the sky. As with any weapon, when trying to hit any moving target you'll need to 'lead' the target slightly. The trick is anticipating which way the target is moving, then timing your 'guiding click' accordingly.
As for being a pilot, lining up the target for your gunner is part of working as a good team. If you can put the target - stationary and dead centre - in the middle of the gunners' TV screen, then it's a pretty obvious point that they're gonna have an easier time hitting the target than if you jump around the place constantly.Comment

Re: How do you guide TV missles?
I am a recent convert being that my favorite was piloting but now I am starting to love being gunner. One thing that has been confusing me is that sometimes it seems that once I fire a missle, if I keep holding the mouse fire button while I keep the target painted it follows it, but other times it seems that I have to keep clicking on the target to keep it painted. I am wondering if it has to do with using a wireless mouse. Anyway this is extremely fun.Comment
