    Re: Making SF less laggy

For everyone that doesn't know, a 6600gt has a 500mhz core but only has 8 pipelines and a 128bit memory bus. The 6800gt is much better than the 6600gt, regardless of it's speed.

My SF runs smooth and I have everything on high with x4AA at 1023x768 and my system is a lot less then most.

    my system

    Amd 3000+barton
2gigs 3200 DDR duel channel ram
    Galaxy Glacier 6800GT 256
    2x80 gig Sata Hdd
    8x8DVDrw
    450 watt enermax PSU
How??? Please tell me! Mine is almost the same and i cna't run any AA or all high.

i think its the intel people who r laggzooring it out
I have heard that before, and i am on a pentium 4. My friends A64 runs smoother than mine.. I think you are right.

        Re: Making SF less laggy

youre confusing two kinds of lag

network latency and system latency - whichever is highest is the limiting factor, so altering the other makes no difference. If you connection is crap and your computer is amazing, the game will lag, if the connection is amazing and your computer is crap, the game will lag.

Depends on your ISP aswell, theyre not all as good. Im supprised BF2 runs AT ALL. 64 players with numerous vehicles on massive maps and a shared physics engine, pretty well implemented communication system, good player hierachy, brilliant gameplay, nice graphics...ofcourse it requires a good pc and internet connection.

It suprising how quickly people can ignore what a game achieves and focus on things they dont like.

          Re: Making SF less laggy

I get some lag sometimes in SF, more than the vanilla BF2, but i guess it's netcode related. other than these few occasions it runs smooth as silk on 1280X1024 everything on high (exc. texture quality on med) AA4X AF8X on a 6800gt 256mb Oced and 1mb of ram.

Hey, DP...are you using stock cooling on your 6800GT? I've often wondering what sort of OC settings I could safely manage without having to spend extra on cooling.

beat you all lol, 6800gt agp running at 425/1100 with nv silencer 5
i strongly suggest everybody to buy a separate cooling solution for vidcards... they're always way more efficient (that means longer life and better oc) and QUIETER. and they cost around 20 bucks and are easy easy to install
