advice please?

hey everyone....

im having trouble enjoying the game at anything basically higher than low...
i've seen other computers similar to mine running at high at medium in this forum and im wondering why i cant....
i can get an average of 30 fps on low ( i know, sad) and probably 20-25 on med. i wont even attempt high because i sit their for minutes after it loads and its ready to join, to let me select a spawn....

i have...
p4 3.0 ghz
geforce 5700 le (256 mb)
1 gig of ram (pc 2700)

i dont want to do anything technical, like Oc'ing, and ive read that defragging and virus scans can help, which im planning on doing tommorow.


please....any ideas?

New graphics card, that will be the only option that will really help you.

im not sure what this card is in USD, but the 6600GT or the 6800GS are both good cards that will give you a massive increase in performance, and they are quite cheap for a good card to buy.

yeah i think the 6800 is out of my range, and i need agp to go with my piece of crap foxconn motherboard, but the 6600 aint to bad, but whats the difference?

Look for a 6600gt, not the 6600. The 6600 is a POS.

And yes, get the 6600GT, it is a good card for its price, and you can get all the cards i mentioned above in AGP.

oh ok.....i see the gt is a little more expensive, but im guessing the right choice is nvidia not ati?

Yea, umm.. whats the ATI equiv od the 6600GT, is it the x800 or the x700?? (i think the x700 was abit of a flop, but the x800/x850 is a very very good card).

I think I may have seen a 6800 on newegg for less than $180 w/ rebates. Go check.
