Interesting toy... anyone know anything about "P5" glove?

I tripped over some of these sitting on a local store shelf going for fairly cheep. I was joystick shopping at the time and while I'm sure this thing is a little on the unpactical side, it could be hella fun to fly planes with.

    Er... link: http://www.ekitchengadgets.com/glgacop5.html

I'm curious if anyone out there has played with one of these. It could be an amusing little add on, but if the tracking sucks, I'd rather not waste the money.

No, he was imagining seeing it at his local store.

Like I said, I found one at a local shop.
Going for $40 (Canadian), it's not expensive. Slightly cheaper than the joystick I was interested in.

I'm fairly sure that it's been discontuned (they aren't making 'em anymore), but that doesn't mean it sucks. There's lots of really good products that get ignored just because they are a little "odd", ya know?

These glove things have built in drawbacks... you're arm gets fricken tired after awhile (try holding your arm up and out for the entire time it takes to play through a round!) and generally they aren't the more precise pieces of equipment.

HOWEVER, the specific reason I'm kinda interested is because I could map the sucker to my flight controls for BF2 and still use my normal mouse for everything else. I wouldn't have to fumble for a joystick or have it taking up room on my crowded desk. Just put the thing on at the begining of a round 'n have it ready for when I need it.

Hehe, that and it's the sorta uber-geek thing that makes me chuckle.
P5 on one hand grasping a mouse, my Nostromo speedpad under the other, my tac mic around my neck, and my keyboard lit by desk mounted LEDs.

All I need is a headjack!
        :p

            ROFLs!

Hehe... yeah, as I mentioned above about that uber-geek thing...
I've actually got a powerglove that I re-wired to work with PCs! I found a how-to in a Dr. Dobbs mag waaaaaay back. 2 problems tho. A) the sonic tracking sucks (and is ugly to set up) and B) it's wired to use old com ports that I don't have on my current comp.

Note: The only thing I ever found it good for was flying. There's just something hella sweet about making a "plane hand" and flying it around to control your movements.

                We've noticed.

It's very standard curtasy to atleast attempt to read what people have posted before smacking on the ol reply button. Otherwise, you're just spamming.

If you aren't interested in what people have to say, there's no point in you saying anything.

                Yeah?

The accuracy of this thing's tracking is about the only thing I really need to know about. I've been googling like crazy, but I"ve only found a couple of reviews. Those point out the obvious (your arm gets tired) but don't make many useful comments on tracking accuracy or range of motion.

BTW, unlike the ol Power Glove, this P5 also tracks tilt, yaw, roll, as well as x,y,z postions.

Think of the applications for flying choppers!

Hehe, I'd dare anyone to fly a plane or chopper with one of 'em strapped on and NOT make stupid sound effects.
