X800XT PE and BF2:SF

Anyone got the above card? If so what graphica settings have you got the game running at? Anyone like me with a slow processor, ie AMD 1.8Ghz, and good gfx card?

I have everything on medium with 2x AA. Performance is ok but nothing special. Sometimes the game gets very choppy when moving the mouse at high speed...

I suggest getting the latest drivers for your motherboard and video card.

Maybe clean off your computer from spyware aswell, that may also help increase frame rates in BF2.

Thanks for the tips. But i know i have the latest motherboard and ATI drivers.4.11 being the latest? Strange thing is, is that the settings i'm using for BF2 work great, but with SF the game runs very choppy...:|:

I have an X850 XTPE running alongside an A64 2.4 CPU.
But more importantly i have 2 gig of memory. What you running?

I have everything on high plus 2 xAA.
Only problem so far is flying choppers, that is very choppy. Everything else is cool.

You shouldn't experience any problems with your CPU as it meets the min requirements.

Well i do have a 3200 Barton which clocks in at 2.2, but i have to underclock it to 1.8 to keep my system stable, as it crasges bf2 if i clock it any higher...

I got 1.5gig of RAM.

Thats strange i used to run BF2 on a 3200 barton. Theres something not quite right if you have to underclock it.

1.5 Gig of ram is enough so no problems there.

Not sure what to advise next. I used to run BF2 on my old rig and that was a 3200 barton
1 gig of Geil
and a sapphire 9800 pro

settings were medium with no AA.
Based on sats alone you should be able to play on High??????

To be honest i think it is my CPU, i think its messed up. If i cant get it stable at 2ghz, there must be a problem. I have even changed from ASUS to GigaByte motherboard because i thought that was the problem...guess not.

Is there any way to test the CPU to find out?

I know of some cpu info tools from AMD, but i am not aware of any tests apart from the benchmarks like 3D MARK etc. But if there is a problem with your cpu i wouldn't advise running them.

Check out these forums at AMD. There might be someone with a similar problem.

I got AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 1gig ram and a 6800le and i can run everything on high with 2aa, i get lag the first two minutes on a server but then its OK.

EDIT: My res is 1024x768 60hz

I have an X800XT, I run BF2 SF with everything on High, 2xAA and 100% view distance - res. is 1280x1024.
I can honestly say, that the game runs very well, even when flying choppers and when there is a lot of action.

I usually run BF2 with the same in-game settings, but use ATI Tray Tools to add 2xAA and 4xAF, along with triple buffering - that also runs sweet :)

I have the card, everything high except shadows and dynamic light to medium, 4x aa. Frames in low 50's and mostly high 40's. Game does run a tad slower in SF, weird.

Everything on high, xfi on ultra. 100% distance, 2xaa.

1280x960x100 Cat 5.11 Vsync off.

In ati display properties "Texture preference" and "Mip map detail level" set to "high" instead of the default "extra high". This gives a nice boost and really smooths things out without killing image quality.

yeah i run everything at medium (textures on high) at 1600 1200 - having problems on warlord though and oilfields... it stutteres quite a bit

My opinion: I have the same card, same processor, 1 gig RAM. I am running my CPU at 1.8 also cause of the stability issue. most my settings are on low and geometry + effects on high with AA@4x on 1024x768. Now I do see less FPS in Special Forces but only on the "The Iron Gator" map while being on the carrier. I use to run all medium settings but I did not like the choppiness in the beginning of the map so thats why I turned it down. So my suggestion turn down graphics a bit or make sure your Harddrives have enough empty space say atleast 5-6 gigs still open. My HDD was really full had only like 500 mb left and playing either BF2 or the expansion was horrible after I cleared the HDD space to like 4-5 it ran much much smoother.

The video card is soo great I think, but my CPU and RAM hold me back
