Possible to play on a .5 Mbit connection?

Playing on an insane 100Mbits connection here in Tokyo but when I get to Sweden I'll share a line and will thus end up w .5Mbits, possibly 1Mbits if it works out.

It is possible to play with that? Any kind of serious lag punishent to look forward to? :hmm:

Yeah well it depends on how much you want to spend and the area. 24Mbit is max in my area, because of all old rich farts who doesn't go online..., and is really expensive because there arent many users. I'm going to uni soon so I'll have to save some money and try to minimize costs etc(just gotta make sure I can play some:) 'ocationally')...

If I lived in a 'hooked-up' where many have broadband then it's dirt cheap. Maybe I'll end up with 2 or 4 Mbit connection if I can score some offer they usually give out...who knows

I just wonder if it affects my ping alot if I play with something like .5-1Mbit

Most multiplayer games use no more than 300k/s, so you'll be fine.

I just bought a new router and it says the speed is 54Mbps but my DSL speed is 100Mbps so that would be cutting my speed in half right? If so could I still play bf2 with no lag?

Your DSL speed is not 100Mbps.

That is the connection speed between your computer and the router/modem, not your connection to the internet.

No, your result is roughly 1.2Mbps, 54 Mbps is much more than 1.2 so you will see no affect.

Also it's spelled Internet.
