Re: disable "empty vechile showing up on HUD"
btw i've also noticed that, in the new patch, sometimes the empty AA's stay showing as enemies for a long time, even if they are destroyed. and also, the boats dont show up properly on the HUD in bombing mode from time to time.
Re: disable "empty vechile showing up on HUD"
oops, i've been looking for a post like this for awhile, but ended up making my own thread about the issue earlier this afternoon after failing to find this thread, or a similar one. I'll just c&p what I said there below to keep it in one place.
I've found since 1.3 that often times empty vehicles show up on a jet's ground radar as occupied and hostile. This has led to more than a few unintended TK's when I spray what I think is an enemy vehicle only to find it was a vehicle that a teammate or 2 just jumped out of, or maybe a tank or apc that someone hopped out to repair. It really makes one pay attention to where their team is (even more so than normal) before pulling the trigger,(which is a good thing) but I feel it does somewhat reduce my effectiveness by having to double check whether or not that my is in fact a real and live target. I guess I'm just asking for the radar to work properly! I've adapted quite a bit and can deal with it but who wants to deal with any broken aspect of a game when it can be fixed just as easily.
And my apologies to anyone I've TKd because I shot the jeep you just jumped out of... I promise I didn't see you and just decided to shoot for fun. Most likely my radar painted your buggy/boat/apc...whatever as hostile and I didn't double check my radar, again my apologies.
Is this bug starting to get old to anyone else? I don't see many ppl complain about it so I'm thinking that it's either only bugging the crap out of me, or it's still not a well know issue.
I also posted a similar thread about this in the Bug section, but I wanted to post this here too as a sort of FYI to those who don't know about this bug, both flyboys and ground pounders...the knowledge is benificial to you both. It may not be wise to stay near a vehicle you just jumped out of, because even though you're not on your enemy radar anymore, you're now on mine... as an enemy.

No, you can't disable it, if you did, Content Check would kick your ass:
Here is a post I put up in the 'Tips and Tricks' section, and one I have replied to numerous times...
It is not a bug that has existed since 1.3, it is a part of coding that has existed since the beginning of the game. Read on:

Check your minimap to make sure the map is clear before you drop your bombs into it, just because you see what appears to be an 'enemy target' in the HUD, it does not mean it is. The vehicle will still give off heat after someone leaves it for 5 seconds, and it just may be that your teammate is trying to fix his vehicle at the time you decided to swoop in on him.
Contrary to popular belief, it is not a bug, it was coded that way:
You can watch a video I made back in august and posted on these boards several times in where you will see a clan mate of mine get in and out of an AA nest and see the HUD targeting reticule go from Friendly to Unfriendly then back to Friendly, that is him getting in and out and in again. Video HERE.
Even if this were remedied by EA-Dice to display properly, it still would not keep prevent people from getting teamkills if they are not going to pay attention to their minimap while flying because infantry does not show up on radar. The minimap is your friend.

Thanks IV, I had no idea it was coded like this. And for some reason I never noticed this happening until after 1.3. but don't doubt that it has always been there, I can be slow sometimes. Makes a hell of alot more sense now that I've read your thread, once again thanks for correcting my train of thought.
