u got to edit your defaultvideo.cfg file, its in the main directory, set allowrefreshrates or something and rendererfullscreen to 1 from 0. Standard bf2 has gone back to normal for me and sf has a pretty decent boost as well. Iron gator is just about playable

Re: Post patch crappy performance fix
well i tried this and it worked thanks. I only tried it on the map warlord though - I was getting poor performance inside that main palace. After changing those i was getting great smooth play. I also changed my dynamic shadows and light from ultra-high to high so ill put those back up and see if its still good. Thanks Thanks:) :) :) :) :)Comment

Soz i'd only just got out of bed when i posted
go to eagames/battlefield2/mods/bf2/settings
then eagames/battlefield2/mods/xpack/settings , the defaultvideo.cfg is in there
BTW u need to edit both files, the bf2 1 and the expack 1Comment

Re: Post patch crappy performance fix
Drat, both of mine are already set to 0 and I still get bad performance. Iron Gator is 100% unplayable for me, it's a total farce...who's idea was it to cram that many polys in such a small space? :pComment

Re: Post patch crappy performance fix
If you bothered searching you would know for NVidia users the fix is the 81.95 driver.Comment

Re: Post patch crappy performance fix
Everywhere I read it should be from 1 to 0.
Which is correct. I'm getting really frustrated with the performance. Granted I need more memory but my rig is more then enough to handle it.
2.4 @ 3.10 GHz
1Gig Kingston HyperX PC3200 @ 434MHz
BFG 6800GT OC @ 400/1.10
Western Digital Raptor 10,000 S-ATA hard drive
Everything on high except Terrain and Texture
I'm only using 776MB of memory with the game loaded and playing...
I meant to try the new drivers but I seriously doubt that will help. I'll post back if it does.Comment

Re: Post patch crappy performance fix
None of these tricks works for me (the videodefault and the sound). BF2 vanilla is averaging 50fps with low in 40 while SF is averaging 35 with low around 20.

Re: Post patch crappy performance fix
I don't have a nVidia card but I don't see how it's the drivers causing bad performance...BF2 runs fine, it's SF that has bad performance in places.
And is it 0 to 1, or is it 1 to 0? Conflicting info!
I'll try whatever it isn't currently I guess. :p

Re: Post patch crappy performance fix
I did some google searching and this tweak has been around since BF1942. It's 0 to 1. You want to enable the feature.
Tried new drivers and AA was whacked out which caused my FPS to increase since nothing was smooth in terms of slanted lines. Need to play with it more. The allrefreshrates didn't do anything for me either. Time to try lowing the sound quality... such unnecessary sacrifices...Comment

Re: Post patch crappy performance fix
I did the fix and dropped one of my settings from medium to low (they're almost all on 'low' now...
) I ran a local server on Iron Gator and I wasn't spazzing around like a fool in the corridor.
Of course, performance in an empty local server can be a world away from a real 64 player server. I hope it helps me a bit at least.Comment
