ive been using asis hardware for sometime and most of my problems are caused by bf2. My SLI running slower than single GPU on bf2 is a good example. yet it scores 6400 on 3dmark05.

I'm not so sure, it could be the mobo / chipset. When I bought the Asus A8N-SLI deluxe I read about the northbridge fan problem. Hundreds of people reported their northbridge fans going out and ended up with dead systems. Asus should have done a recall on it but they still haven't done anything. Just yesterday I go to reboot and my bios tells me the fan is dead. Sure enough I open up the case and the fan stopped spinning. Who knows how long it would have been before my mb died.

The heatsink on the dead fan was so hot that it burned my fingers. Luckily I had a "bad" A8N-SLI motherboard that had a failure with the memory ports (I should have known then) so I ripped the northbridge fan off that and put it on this board. Who knows how long this fan will last.

I would suggest that people not buy an Asus board in the future. Asus owed all of their customers a recall on this defective heap of junk but they still refuse to acknowledge the issue. If my board had died, I'd be much more ****ed off but I got off lucky.

I replaced my heatsink with an Artic Freezer64, and still get the CPU heatsink fan warning, just disabled it in bios.

Call or write Asus tech support, it's on their website, and talk to the RMA department, they'll send you a new fan for the chipset. It is a known issue and they only fix it if you ask them. The fan they send you will be bigger, and not line up right, you have to turn it sidewas so it sits on teh board like a diamond, but it works. On a side note, I ran mine without the chipset fn for months, no problems, but I have two intake fasn on teh side, so they probably are cooling it better than that fan did anyway :)

Anyway, I have been running BF2 on my A8N-SLi since August and it's run fine.

I have a AMD 3800+ with the ASUS SLI Deluxe Mobo, Graphics card is a eVGA 6800GT.

Have not had any problems except on the first day I installed the BF:SF I CTD 3 times. I installed the latest nvidia drivers released on Nov. 22nd. Hadn't had anymore problems other than that. FPS is about 60-80 graphics are cranked as high as they will go :)

I'd really like to see that on a 64 player server (or 32 player for that matter). Looks like you have miracle machine:yay:

second gen delux has a fan less system and the nb heatsink will be like the prem version

Asus A8N-SLI fan problems? rip of the old squeeker and place a passive one instead.
There is no BF2 related problem with Asus boards ... and concerning Graphic cards: just because there is a Asus sticker on it doesnt mean its not just another nVidia card.

Asus A8N-SLI, AMD 64 3000+, 1GB, Gigabyte GF 6800GT (more or less nv reference design) ... NO problems that are not realted to crappy BF2 server hosting >_>

a8N-SLI Deluxe here .. my northbridge heatsink sh1t the bed and i put one on that has no fan .. just fins .. problem solved

I have an Asus SLI Deluxe mobo and the fan went on mine too. I called Asus and they sent me a new "improved" fan that was larger. I've had that on there for a couple of weeks now without any problems so far.

Call Asus and just tell them that you have an Asus SLI Deluxe and they'll send you a new fan.
