Can you install the new patch without installing the other patches first?

if you have Special Forces you need to install that first then the latest patch.
If you just have BF 2 go ahead and install the latest patch 1.12. -

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but I figured I shouldn't open a new thread about this but here it goes:
Um, I just downloaded the patch right? But the installer was called "battlefield 2 patch v1.12 CTD fixed CLIENT x86" and I'm assuming the CTD means crash to desktop. The problem is, that I can't find it anywhere else but where I got it from. It didn't ask for anything illegal, but the source is a little shady. The installation didn't look like the original installer that EA came out with. Now I'm worried. Even more, after the installer was done, it took me to a website that said "68 people have downloaded this build of the installer" or something of that nature.
The reason I downloaded this one was because the original patch said that I didn't have enough harddrive space, but the partition that BF2 is on has about 50 gigs left, but it's my C: drive that I leave only for windows that has about 3 gigs left.
To the Point: Is something Horrible going to happen (IE, am I going to be banned) I have a perfectly legitimate version of the game.
