Okay, I have always had problems with BF2 Patchs whether 1.02 or 1.03. Always got the "Patching Failed". Until now, I manually patched everytime and it worked. But now, when the installation of Special Forces prompts to install 1.11, it does "patching failed" again.

What I did was Explore the BF2SF CD, get the patch executable out, and then manually install 1.11, it worked. Now, when I try installing SF, it stills tries to install 1.11 but fails.

How could I just install the game without the patch ( since it's already there) or are there other solutions????

You don't need to do that as the 1.1 patch is out of date. You now need the 1.12 patch.

So even if you get patching failed, ignore it and try the 1.12 patch.

If you continue to get the same error then there about 2 threads in here with solutions. If you don't have about 3gb free on C: then you will also get errors (fix available).

The thing is, Special Forces is not installed because it won't continue since the patch fails and ends abruptly.

EDIT: My goal is to install Special Forces, If I'd manage to do that, I'd be set.

I see.

If by coping the patch from the CD to the harddrive it patched ok wouldn't it make sense that copies all the SF files from the CD would have the same result?

I have had the same problem i solved it by doing this ( parts of this or the hole thing has allready been posted in other threads)


I first

1) Uninstalled Bf2 Special forces then Battlefield 2. removed all profiles,screenshots and server configs aswell.

Restarted the computer

2) Create a new Windows Account with admin rights. I named mine "bf 2"

3) Now logoff the account you are currently in and login to the newly created account.

4) Install Battlefield 2 then restart your computer

5) Install Special forces. Don't forget to login in to your new account before installing this.

6) Install the 1.12 patch.

Finished.

Somehow all my patch problems went away when i created a new windows account and installed everything bf2 related on that account.
I do however need to play on this account aswell.
I tried at first to install all things on my new bf 2 account and then play on the old account but just got the cd key not valid message.

For the first message, even by putting the patch oon my hardrive, i had to manually patch it. And for the whole solution of WIndows account, i'll be trying that now thanks!

I have the same problem, bought BF2:SF on the day of release, patching failed, manually patched 1.1, still dont work, all i want it to do is actaully install SF, then im sorted and can patch it to 1.2 then...is there another solution apart from a new windows account??

No you can't, atleast it doesent work for me. I just get the "cd key invalid" screen when trying to play from my old windows account. So it's not a perfect solution but atleast you are up and running.

Just start BF2:SF from your old account and try to join a server and see if you can get in or not.

Thats what I was wondering...I tried playing from my old account, but it would work saying "invalid cdkey"...i'll go on the new account then

SOE-Flippin your godlike, the solution worked for me too, and its ok having to use other account cuz i can use both accounts for any program, exept bf2 and SF, thanks alot!!

Nice it's working for you but..

It wasen't me that came up with the solution since it's been those who has done it like this all the time (patching 1.01,1.02 etc.). Still nice to see more and more people beeing able to start playing the game.

Since you now got it up and running, help out by spreading the word.

hi guys i have a prob with sf i brought the original from mail order tryed it worked ok then said i need to update so i updated,
now every 2-5mins in the game it crashs to desktop this is drivin me mad as ea an dice are just makin more buggy games than ever theyve had ages to get this game sorted out an they just let the customer down yet again EA AN DICE TAKE YAZ ED'S FROM UP YA ASSSSSSSSSS AN GET THIS GAME SORTED.
theres got to be some legal action that peps can take against this as there just selling faulty products knowing that the game dosent run properly!
sorry to moan guys but i love the bf games an its gettin more like a joke every time i want to play it.
if any ones got any ideas tia

Hey man, SOE_Flippin,

after 2 days of playing SF, im getting invalid CD-Key on both accounts. I guess the solution is to reinstall, which I'm going to do tonight. Ever got this problem, there might be another solution in case in doesnt' work after reinstalling.
