Cpu overclocking

Hello there


I have been trying to overclock my sempron socket a 2800/2.ghz i have i silent booster heatsink and fan arctic silver cpu paste temps are 24 cpu board 26.

i can only get it up to 2300 on my gigabyte rz600p it has no pci agp lock, if i buy say an nf7. ver 2 or and an7, do you think it would get much higher ? or is that at 2333 good for battelfield 2 ? thank's

Just for refernce, in future post these issues in Hardware under Support. Im not quite sure what your asking, but if it is that use OC'ed from ur CPU being 2.0Ghz to 2.3??

What i mean is i have overclocked from 2.ghz to 2.300 mhz and was thinking if i buy a better motherboard would i be able to overclock it more ie 2.6 ghz ? thanks

Personally, i think you would be better off saving and getting a 939 pin CPU and mobo. They OC more and are going to last longer (not be stopped in production as soon). But appart from that, im not sure what you should do.

I can't say if you will get much higher but the NF-7 has working PCI/AGP locks and dual channel DDR. So you should see some benefit because of that. You might be able to get close to 2.4Ghz.

Are you clocking your mem 1:1?

If so, that might be holding you back. You should probably step it down to a 5:4 ratio.

I'm clocking my 2.4 to 3.0 but have had it up to 3.2 while watercooled. My memory is holding me back. I have 4 sticks of PC3200 and they eat up too much voltage to be stable beyond 433MHz. One of these days I'll get faster memory and I'll OC my cpu to 3.4GHz.

Just took into account that this is an AMD chip. Don't know a ton about OC-ing those but have heard that aren't as easy as intel but that's because AMD runs better to begin with. I'd be AMD right now but.... it's a long story.

I have a 2600+ (I think supposed to run around 1.7 ?), that I'm O/Cing to pretend its a 3200+ (11x multiplier)...I'm getting a solid 2.2ghtz out of it.

Using an Abit NFS7 board, with an Athlon Mobile 2600+ Memory is also tweaked to 'aggressive' settings...

i am trying to do the l5 mod to make it a mobile cpu then change the multiplyer but i done it wroung lol ****, i think i will save for a athlon 64 3200 but its still only 2.ghz would a p4 at 3ghz be better ? thats the max i can buy i am low on cash lol

If you can help it, stay with AMD unless you do a lot of multi tasking. AMD is hands down better for gaming.

Are you clocking your mem 1:1?

3.4ghz of intel?...coz if its AMD isen't that like stronger then a AMD FX-57....

Intel sucks. You are best off buying an A64 instead of overclockign a slow processor from teh start.

No, an AMD 3200 is roughtly the equilivent of an Intel 3.2.

an A64 3200 is way better than a 3.2ghz p4. You haven't truly compared the two.
