    Unmodified Content

Well I downloaded the game from the EA-Downloader, (I purchased it online), and now I am getting an error about unmodified content. When I was installing the game now I got some kind of md5 error when unpacking something, I tried to retry it but it didn't work so I click cancel and it went on with the installation. I do believe it was font or something. Before you ask I did a fresh install of BF2, went to install SF it did the 1.1 Patch, and after that it went to install and I got the error during installation. I installed the 1.12 Patch. I'v uninstalled the game twice now, and done this.

Could this be that my download was corrupted, and I need to re-download it? I'd hate to half to re-download my Internet Service Provider just happens to be adelphia, and as of a few days ago my speed has turned from 600KB Download to 12 kilobits, heh my upload is better then my down. Anyway is anyone else experience this, or know how I could possibly fix it. I'd hate to re-download it and have the same exact error happen.

    Re: Unmodified Content

Lots had this problem with the 1.03 patch.

Some fixed it by trying over and over again until it worked (the problem is that not all the files are getting patched)

Most though that I know fixed it by tasting their memory, finding a fault so removing the offending RAM module and reinstalling the patch w/o any errors.

right well I paid for the game not this much trouble! Won't be doing the ram thing as my RAM is top notch and if you knew how much trouble it is to remove 2GB of RAM and figure out which one is causing it. Its alot of trouble.

        Re: Unmodified Content

I bought RAM myself. 2 sticks of Corsair 1Gb. I got the modified content error so I ran 'memtest' over night and it told me that one of the modules had errors. I took it out and patched with just 1Gb and it worked perfectly.

I put the other module back in and tried to patch again just to see and I got the error again.

Just because it's new and works with everything else doesn't mean that it's the not problem. It costs nothing to let memtest run and check...

It's about as hard as taking toast out the toaster, but if that's too tricky for you I suggest you sell your PC and read a book instead.

Not tricky, its trouble. I'v shut my pc down 10 times today trying to get this stupid thing to work and so far nothing. I'v never had the modified content error before hand only once and an uninstall and reinstall of the game fixed this error.

Considering I had that one corrupt file it maybe possible that the game was just downloaded incorrectly. I know my way around a pc so thanks for the suggestment on the book, but i'll pass.

How do I read the patch log like one of the guys in the post on forumplanet did? I haven't been able to find it yet. So that I can even confirm this.

              /my docs/BF2/dmp/patchlog.txt

That's where it should be. (it was with 1.03 and with 1.1 but not sure about 1.12)

BF2 seems to work fine. Just joined a wake island map. Does this help you decide rather its the patch or the download file itself causing this? As I said some font file didn't install right, and I got the error twice during the two times I installed the game. I am attempting to download it again.

I also didn't call you a liar dude, I am just saying this may not be the case with me. It might be the others have bad memory modules, but I did run memtest and it passed successfully, with no errors.

Well I just re-downloaded it, fixed the error I was getting during installation, and the unmodified content. Is it me or does it Optimize shaders for every map? If your one of the people who downloaded it uninstall ea-downloader and reinstall it, then download the game again. It may not of gotten all the files correctly unpacked or downloaded. I had it happen to me other files like lineage 2.

                      Re: Unmodified Content

I'm getting the same Unmodified Content message, only when logging onto servers runnning the special forces maps.. The special forces download and install went flawlessly the first time, so I'm not sure why it happened, but I want to fix it in the quickest way possible..
So it sounds like my first bet would be re-downloading (as much as I hate to), and if that doesn't work, reinstalling bf2 and the patch, in the order listed above.. when you reinstalled special forces, did it fix the unmodified content error straight-away? or did you have to do anything else?
                      Thanks!

He means finding the dead stick, not how to remove the RAM.

Also, with the modified content thing, you had to install it in this order:

                        [BF2 Patched] > BF2:SF> BF2&BF2:SF Patch 1.12

If you install the patch before SF, SF never gets patched.

OK dudes i got the answer. when installing SF i noticed it installed a patch 1.1 first. So i figured this was probably another major f**k up from the guys at EA. And immediately the solution came te me.

Ok read the following closely because it involves very difficult hacking stuff.....

Reinstall 1.12 patch over SF
