So which do you guys think is more effective at causing confusion and disorientation before charging in. I would think gas is easy to counter seeing as you just put a gas mask on and its effects are countered.

Re: Flash Bangs vs tear gas
Both, if used properly, are both equally effective at causing confusion and disorientation. The effects of both last about the same amount of time once one is afflicted. It's all situational, really, and subject to opinion. Gas/Bangs both can effectively disable a squad/soldier in the initial hit if they aren't prepared. -
Re: Flash Bangs vs tear gas
The second you get hit by teargas is the second you feel the effects, and putting the mask on after that doesn't help much.Originally posted by ColonelPanicI find the FB is only good if you get hit face on with it or if it goes off pretty close. With the teargas, even if you put the mask on after being exposed, does it still affect you?
I prefer the flashbangs simply because I don't play the Support kit much...however, I have been gassed when not prepared, and it's very confusing.Comment

Re: Flash Bangs vs tear gas
The gas mask actually helps me a lot right when I get hit by tear-gas.
I think flashbangs are the most effective, because if you get it close enough to someone, they could be blind for a little longer more. Plus, theres no way of preventing it once you get flashed.Comment

Re: Flash Bangs vs tear gas
the tear gas i found is least effective against a good soldier. Why? beacuse when the suppport kit fires the tear gas it is very visible and takes about 3 seconds to explode by that time the soldier on the other end all he has to do is press 8 and he is safe. what i think they should do is make it so when you put on your gasmask or nvg make it so it takes about 2-4 seconds to put it on instead of having it magically appear on your faceComment

Re: Flash Bangs vs tear gas
Flashbang:
Advantages:
-Most effective on night maps (most people wearing night vision)
-Can effect people in vehicles
-Effect cannot be countered
-Carried by assault kit, therefore more practical for incursion
-Quick reload time for re-throw
Disadvantages:
-Cannot be anticipated and countered by friendlies (ie: effects EVERYONE)
-Victim can still sprint and does not have the same level of "distorted" vision when effect is still "active" as tear gas
Tear Gas:
Advantages:
-Can be anticipated by squad (ie: "everyone put gas masks on")
-Causes complete disorientation, no sprinting, no chance of shooting
-Effect can last a long time, even when gas mask is depolyed after exposure
-Causes victim to remove night vision on night maps, which may aid in there death
Disadvantages:
-Smoke can cause a visual hinderance to attackers
-Support kit needs others to effectively execute incursion
-Can be countered by wearing gas mask before exposure
-Does not effect vehiclesComment
