It seems many people on this forum have this problem, I had the same problem, after lots of research I have discover the problem, and decide to share with all of you.
The freeze is usually caused because you halted the game unexpectedly (Due to Game Crash, Computer Crash, powercut etc) and when you go back in the game, and enter a server, Your mouse and keyboard freezes, you can hear a battle going in the background, only that you can't even move your mouse, the only way is to Alt+F4 to exit the game. Restarting your computer etc doesn't solve the problem.
The problem is due to game control, When you start the game, the control file (where all your keys are defined are loaded in the memory, and the file on your harddisk is deleted, so if you exit the game unexpectedly, the control file won't be written back in to your game folder, and so all controls are lost.
Solution:
1. Enter the game
2. Click on Settings
3. Click on Controls
*At this point you should notice all the controls are blank.
4. Click on Reset to Default
5. Find a server and enjoy :)
